Clones have advanced considerably since the two years this comparison was posted. The differences between modern super clones and authentic are staggeringly minute.

Fun fact: If you're rich, you can wear a fake and everybody thinks, its an original. But if you're broke, even if you got an original one, everyone thinks it's fake :D

if the cosmetics reach to a point where you would need tools to be certain which is the counterfeit and real, then the manufacturers are doing a very good job.

Regarding craftsmanship, Rolex should cost 1,5k tops! After seeing that movement I'm disappointed, but it became clear to me, why they don't have crystal back! :)

The gears aren't machined quite as smooth the jewels aren't as clean and clear but it will probably last as long or longer because it was machined much rougher ! The fake looks like a really good watch for the price !

This just tells me how amazing Chinese craftsmanship is. If they can do this on a $600 USD budget, imagine what they can do with 9k.

I'm blown away at the quality of the 600 dollar Rolex... Outstanding job. I have a Rolex explorer that I bought 2nd hand. I had it sent to the Rolex certified repair/seller and had it serviced. I also wanted to make sure it was authentic because I have heard that the knockoffs are very good nowadays....and this video proves that.

These comparisons not only train us to spot fakes but to appreciate the genuine articles. The major watch brands would be wise to sponsor you. ;-) It would also be helpful to get tips on how we can either be certain we are getting the real deal or on ways to get watches authenticated. I personally don't own any replicas but I do have homage watches and one of my favorite homage is the steinhart 42mm.I love the design and look of many luxury watches but wouldn't mind a homage version with seiko or miyota or a cheap Swiss movement, as long I was getting the look (never been into the movements) I'm a car guy too , now that is something I want to the inside (engine performance) to be top notch and would pay accordingly.

Don't set the date north of between 3 and 9. That's roughly when parts start to move inside, and changing the date right as that pin is engaged can snap it or damage it.

Its crazy how far fakes have gone. There is even the newer fakes with the 3235 movements with 70 hour power reserve. From what i read online the company called VSF that makes it actually did a good job on it this time. Would like to see a comparison of that in the future!

That was a good clone but there’s better ones out there

My brother in the UK is a floor and wall tiler and he did three bathrooms and a kitchen for this guy who offered him a rolex in part payment at the end of the job. My brother had always wanted one so he took it. Three years later he takes it into a Rolex shop for a small repair and receives a call from them to pick the watch up. When he went back to the shop he is told that they wont touch it as it is a fake. I still take the piss out of him over it but will concede that without taking the back off, and then knowing what you were looking at, it was virtually impossible to pick as a fake. Oh, and the guy he did the work for had sold up and moved away so he couldn't get any sort of reimbursement.

The ONLY person who'd be able to point this out is a trained professional. This is absolutely stunning. If I thought I was buying a true Rolex, I'd obviously be incredibly angry. However, if I knew this was a fake (and at $600, that should be obvious), and it was made with parts as good, then I'd say you got an exceptional deal. My wife brought back a couple of these clones from China, and I was stunned at how spot on they were. My first comment was that, they'll probably break in a year, or the first time they get wet. We didn't pay anything for them, but we knew wha they were charging. So, we wear them for fun, given we'd never in a million years purchase a wrist watch at that expensive. That's just not "us". But, they are beautiful, have that Rolex weight, and are still chugging along. Although, the link screw has fallen out of one of them, after a year. I always wondered if that happens to a real Rolex. If it would've been a real Rolex, I probably would've been really angry, at what those cost. But, as the movie said "Screws fall out of things all the time, the world's an imperfect place".

I like how they go so slowly when doing anything with the genuine and then fast forward through everything with the fake. On the replica they went through all 30 dates in like 3 seconds.

the date change was one of the worst sounds I've ever heard

I love Rolex quality, but this reinforces something that I've been thinking a lot about lately. My dad could have bought a Rolex for $90 when he was young. In today's money, that's roughly $950. To me, that is their actual value. There is no quality or build changes that justify spending ten times that amount on what equivocates to the exact same watch from 60 years ago. It bothers me a lot. I want a Rolex because they are near-perfect watches. I want the best because I love myself and I want my wife to be proud to be under my arm, but I'm not willing to pay the ridiculous markup just so a stranger will see me wearing a Rolex. I can afford to buy dozens of Rolex watches at their current price, but I refuse to do it. This fake $600 watch here solidifies to me that Rolex could sell their watches for $1,000, but they choose not to. Thus their brand symbolizes greed to me. People think a new Rolex is a sound investment, but I truly believe their inflation bubble is going to burst.

Thanks for the side by side comparison of these real vs super clone. It's very close to the real movement but true to its cloned roots, the replica is super dirty inside. But to an untrained eye, they may not even know the difference from dirty or clean...

I recently found a very well built Rolex Sea-Dweller clone for around $250. I was also shocked when I opened it up.

Replica is good for use in some situations and also have the original in a safe zone

The heartbeat sound... the real 3135 is always unmistakable.... as is the sound of watch winding. That's how I always tell... haven't been wrong yet. :)

These Chinese copies are becoming better and better. Good video to keep us aware and educate the young generations like me who loves watches.

The really impressive thing is how the replica manages to get so banged up on the inside... like it's really hard to damage components and finishes that much. They must engine turn the bridges and then the next guy on the assembly line throws them against a brick wall...

adjusting the date wheel while the hour hand is in the upper half of the dial (9pm - 3am) can damage the movement.
