Indeed, the truest Elizabeth Bennet is Jennifer Ehle. But then the whole cast for BBC's P&P was phenomenal ! Could there be a better Mr Collins (David Bamber), a better Mrs Bennet, a better MR DARCY (Colin Heartthrob Firth)...Never in a million years! ❤

Just listened through again 3 years later & reveled in every word, image, Violet's doggie-ness and of course the inimitable Ms. Ehle's narrative. I got so much more out of it and drew it out yo make it last as well. Final chapter added do much and tied up loose ends. Am an Anglophile & love reading English Lit ( "Jane Eyre" was always my fave but P & P too difficult to plow through.Even JE had a hard time). Thank you ALL!!!❤❤

I have grown up watching BBC's P&P with you Jennifer! Since 1995, you have delighted myself and my whole family, consistently, religiously, each time we would watch it, sometimes reciting and giggling among 3 sisters, and dad mimicking Mrs Bennet...what an absolute delight it has been listening to your reading during the confinement. Much love from Mauritius ❤🌈👌 and like all the others commenting, I shall watch Pride & Prejudice all over again for the Nth time next week. Will miss you, iconic Jennifer Ehle 😘

Hats off to you Ms. Ehle for doing these readings, bringing us back wonderful memories of the lovely and greatest interpretation of your role as Ms. Elizabeth Bennet together with Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy! for me you are both magnificent. The version you made was for me the "Best Ever Version and adaptation made! 1995" - Beautifully and perfectly done. Magnificent actors with their very high level of excellence in portraying all their roles individually and collaborating as group performance overall is superb! Thank You so much.

Dear Jennifer, your warmth and delight has been such an added charm to your reading of this superb classic. How timeless it felt in your hands. And how funny. I am bereft now that you’ve finished! I have always loved the way the book builds to such a climax of joy, and then tends to all the remaining characters’ loose ends. I felt that I lived through that climax with your reading, and anguished over every detail with Lizzie as she discovered Darcy’s intentions and her family’s reactions. What joy, what passion! Thank you for reading to me, and to many others. Thank you for your kind words to all those who work for us during this pandemic. May you have as much joy in your life as you have given me and others. Margaret James (Adelaide, South Australia)

Wow, what a charming and engaging reading of P&P. And seeing Jennifer Ehle in this way makes me realize why she was cast as Lizzie in a way that the actual production did not, perhaps due to the costumes, makeup and hairstyles. In this reading, Ms. Ehle's expression and the emotions she conveys give the text exactly what it is due, and we see exactly what Darcy saw when he said that Elizabeth was one of the handsomest women of his acquaintance. A masterpiece!

Ms Ehle please excuse me being so direct, but you're as charming as the character. Or should I say, it's the other way round. Your casting was like a multiple jackpot. Lizzie's outright rants, icy kindness, warm smiles and finally discrete glances, her bosom rising and falling as she struggled not to reveal a thing - all this offers unparalleled entertainment and a huge load of warmth during these bleak, dark November evenings. Thank you.

My God, what an unbelievable and generous gift.. It felt like watching numerous extra scenes of my most beloved movie, as if the BBC adaptation greatly expanded in my mind. I was born in a small Siberian city, and about 11 years old when the miniseries first aired on Russian TV. Will never forget how it felt - a mix of awe, admiration, surprise and excitement - Pride & Prejudice was like first love, which also showed me the fascinating world of English literature, culture and history. It made me a passionate fan of the English language, and through this greatly influenced some of my life and career choices. Art is such power!!! And P&P 1995 is a timeless piece of art, like a Da Vinci painting. 27 years later it’s still my favourite cinematic production, and Jennifer Ehle is still the most beautiful and talented actress that I have seen on screen🥰 It’s funny to think now, how in the 1990s we practically had no internet - only a slow dial-up connection, interrupting when someone in the family wanted to make a call. And in these conditions I was stubbornly looking for any piece of extra info on P&P on the web - an article, an interview, some fan art.. can’t believe there was even no youtube back then😄🤦♀ And now I’m a proud owner of the original DVD, can listen to dearest Jennifer Ehle read P&P to us in her car and even have the honour of thanking her directly in the comments. Incredible and amazing. I am sending million thanks, deepest gratitude and love to you, Jennifer. Your Lizzie Bennet will forever remain my huge inspiration. And also sending much love to every other soul who was as profoundly affected by this series as me - we must all be kindred spirits in some way❤🙏☺

Elizabeth lives! What a treat to meet with her after all these years. You have delighted P&P novel devotees by giving us another glimpse at the greatest portrayal of Elizabeth. That you can just find her inside so easily is mind blowing. I have enjoyed your other work over the years but do have to remind myself that you’re really Jennifer not Elizabeth. Maybe actors don’t like to hear that but such was your portrayal. Thanks for sharing this.
