Well a vocal coach taught me instead of focusing on the “big” note, focus on the note before it. Think of the note before the big note as the hardest note. Kinda like a psychological thing if it makes sense

There is an interview I forgot where they ask if she has a whistle register her response was along the lines of no but she used to be able to sing the entire piano (possibly and exaggeration but I doubt it knowing her) but she can't go as high anymore.

Jennifer Hudson is underrated...her voice, range and the tone of her voice are in comparison with all the superstar singers of the pass.. Aretha Franklin, Gladys Night Whitney Houston, Jennifer Holiday, Diana Ross, Florence Ballard, Tammy Terrill, Mahalia Jackson, there are so many more...All of the so called top singers with all the top awards don't come anywhere close to Jennifer Hudson's voice, range, talent and lyrics. Give Jennifer the credit and the awards, praise, recognition, she deserves like the rest of the singers that don't deserve any of it I believe.

i have to disagree. i think all those 60s soul legends sang better than jennifer. jennifer shouts and screams, gladys and aretha sang with control , depth and Soul. another example is shirley bassey. her tone and control is flawless. there is no doubt jennifer can sing with power, but she lacks something, and sounds like so many other black female singers. artists like gladys, aretha, cissy houston, dionne warwick, etta james REALLY were exceptional.

I have loved this woman since she walked out on the American Idol stage in that white leather suit, and the love has only grown. Here I sit actually crying listening to her singing this song. I love her voice. I remember chills running down my spine when she sang Circle of Life on American Idol. I am so proud of the talent she has become. She is beautiful.
