Jennifer showing love to Florence Ballard was the sweetest thing to me. I loved how she shown love to Jennifer Holiday with one award and Florence Ballard with the other and also got the chance to sing with Jennifer Holiday. Beautiful

Jennifer truly deserved her Golden Globe and Oscar for playing Effie! An iconic role was recreated that for 35 years has inspired generations of African American divas. Also, very thoughtful of Jennifer to dedicate her award to the real Supreme that inspired her character Florence Ballard who's been deceased for 40 years now. It's surreal that George Clooney presented Jennifer's two golden statues!

Manuel Orozco Yes she was even in the Original Broadway play. Did you know that in the play Effie was suppose to die after scene 1, but they re-wrote it to have her survive triumphantly.

@zuzahar It's because George won the Golden Globe and the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor the year before. Tradition calls for the winner to return the following year to present the same award to the other gender.

The winner of the previous year of the opposite gender always presents the award. For example When Meryl Streep won in 2012 colin firth presented it to her because he won best actor the year before. In this case George Clooney won for supporting actor for Syrianna and he is presenting it to her.
