Well, this comment didn't age well. I've never read anywhere about her being smart nor about her directors and co-stars commenting about her intelligence. And no, she will *never* win an Oscar for writing anything. The one Oscar she ever received, and possibly will *ever* receive was the one she got for a movie produced by Harvey Weinstein, whose tactics for getting his actresses Oscars are both legendary and infamous.

Jennifer is just as much a role model as Angelina...as a woman...see what she has managed to do the last years....she is young and strong and a WOMAN, and she is humble and hardworking. And people love her and lets her be outspoken...and she shows the world that you can say what ever you believe and still be respected...and if not respected...she still keep in control. Because her focus comes from a real place....and not managed from fear!

Honestly, if I were to see this speech for the first time in written form, I'd think it a bit cheesy, but she manages to actually add weight to it, make it relevant and very personal. She pretty much sticks with an expressionless face throughout the duration of the speech, and yet she manages to deliver exactly the kind of message I personally like to hear. Unlike, for example, Emma Watson, who's on the verge of crying whenever she talks about inequal pay, like it's some fucking incurable disease that she suffers from. Jennifer is cool because she can get across the importance of this matter, regardless of how some of us might argue that we can't relate to Hollywood's take on 'equal pay', and yet it's not laughable; she doesn't take herself too seriously and is very honest when she expresses herself, and we need more of that. And less of Lena Dunham, Emma Watson and other Queen Bees out there who shame the feminist movement with ridiculous claims and wrongly assume that they're empowering women, when in reality they just make us look stupid really. Those kind of "activists" are the reason people are ashamed to say they're a feminist. Go Jen!

I'm not talking about the feminist roles she has taken, but about the male-chauvinist roles she has taken. It's called acting, sure. But she is talking about how women in entertainment need to do something about women opression in the world. So I'm pointing out some bad examples that maybe she needs to think about. That's it. How many awards do the acting community actually need? They're not curing cancer or solving world famine they put on make up and play for a living. This particular actress earned $52 million in one year and then complained it wasn't enough as her male counterparts were paid more. I imagine social workers and nurses are crying themselves to sleep worrying how she manages. She also admits to being rude and aggressive to people so they won't ask her for autographs or selfies. The very same people who are keeping her in work!

be careful there's a whole army of people that would spend hours disagreeing with you...lol ive already been attacked . but to what you said...it really is sooo interesting though if you think about the psychology behind why we do care so much about the people on the screen...I'm in awe of the producers writers and directors who I don't think get enough credit..they're the ones who actually create and do the hard work the actors are just puppets for the most part but your right it's not shit compared to people that actually are making a change like teachers, social, therapists, counselors , workers, nurses, etc. perhaps bigger organizations pay these actors money to.speak out because that's the only way people seem to listen .and it's works time and time again..kind of sad tho and says a lot about he human race . not everyone but a good amount of people. they're salary won't go down unless people stop paying for entertainment and that's one of the few things (that aren't bad for you) that can help take you away from your everyday stressful life.
@martinfoster5763

As a society I think our perspective is seriously out of whack when the people who are making the most impact in solving the worlds problems are paid relatively nothing and we have no idea who they are or what they do. Throw in another awards show for overpaid pampered multi millionaires and lost tribes in the Amazon get to hear about it. You're right regarding behind the scenes workers. Writers for me are particularly ignored which considering the very nature of the product is more than a little confusing.

Martin Foster She was using her own experience of being underpaid in comparison to her male costars. Sure it was a lot of money anyway (she addresses this in the actual essay if you had bothered to read it) but that doesn't make being paid unfairly right. She even said that the reason she wrote it was that if she had experienced being underpaid even in terms of millions of dollars, then women all over the world must be going through the same. She knows she is lucky. All she did was use her own experience to talk about women in general being under paid, across ALL fields. She is not against the women who are on minimum wage "crying themselves to sleep", she is trying to fight for them in the few ways she can. It's like you are putting her against them when she is fighting for them. If you think that being paid less than men doing the same job is right, no matter how much she earns then you have the wrong mindset. It's not about the money, it's about the principal.

Adi Adrian "mainly because of him"? No. Lets look at the actual facts before you judge. The movie she is most known for is The Hunger Games which had nothing to do with Weinstein, and in fact she filmed before she worked with him. She only worked with him on Silver Linings Playbook. Sure, she won an oscar for it, but she would have been just as famous without it because it's is The Hunger Games that earned her worldwide fame. She also has been nominated for 3 other films that Weinstein had nothing to do with. Seriously, do you even bother checking facts before making an ignorant comment and acting like you are an insider? Clearly not. You just make yourself look stupid. I'm so sick of people jumping to conclusions when all it needs is a quick google search to debunk your stupid theories.
