I listened to Lady Gaga top gun song then this song by Berlin, man there is absolutely no comparison. I am so very to have grown up in the 80"s the music, the movies, the actors, the clothes, everything was just magical in that decade. It can never be duplicated.

I was on base At Miramar when the original was filmed. I had no idea. I did however, remember seeing the volleyball scene and cameras. My ex was in the military and I was at the hotel across the street watching. Crazy still to me. I now am in NorCal and they filmed this here and Nevada. Full circle.

Wow I am 49 now and this Maverick took me back to 1980' when I was in my teens . Loved old one growing up copying Tom and his Ray bans . Now just came out of cinema watched Maverick blown me away , the cast , the cinematography, music , dialogues , production was just epic . Jennifer still looks so stunning one of my favorite actresses. Tom being legend due to his versatile talent in Cinema creating so many different scripts and roles . He will be remembered for a very long time and generations to come truly he has left nothing in the tank that's why he is so good to connect with audiences around the world 🌎 ❤️

It's great that Tom Cruise included the soundtrack from the 1986 Top Gun Movie - "TAKE MY BREATH AWAY" sang by "BERLIN". A great tribute and nod to the first movie and soundtrack. I am sure that the group Berlin and Jerry Bruckheimer would have been so grateful and honoured.

Cruise is such a phenomenal actor, MY GOD!! Like this action based turn is simply supposed to be a typical leading man movie star turn yet Cruise brings SO much depth in this to his character. He seems so natural and refined in his acting. Just brilliant. Want to see him desperately in a dramatic role again.

How does one draw a distinction between good acting and good directing/editing?

@@JakeMcClake2 I think it's more about how you buy the conviction actor is putting into either his dialogues/silences. That's VERY much the job of an actor and mark of good acting. For example Cruise naturally has a really sad melancholic face in this movie. Regrets, and responsibilities show up VERY naturally on his face and eyes without him ever trying TOO hard.

The only answer to my question is good actors are the ones that good directors want in their films, repeatedly. Admittedly there are some good directors that Tom Cruise works for over and over.

Saw the movie today and was heartbroken. I was damn sure they will use this song. I waited for it till the end. There was not even a slightest hint.😢 I have a feeling they will add it later and 80s -90s kids will go again to watch it and feel better and nostalgic😪

maybe Berlin told them don't use our song.......don't feel so bad......That song belongs to the original Top Gun. it would kinda become cliche had they used it in this film. Take my breath away has more meaning and connection with the story of Top Gun and the Romance between Charlie and Maverick......

@@memoranda1 Maybe all the reasons you have given above are true. Thanks for replying.😌and now I should be thankful...at least Tom was there. ☺️ I connect that song with Top Gun only. And the moment that music starts it transports me back in time, when everything was magical, breezy and sweet.

The new movie doesn't need this song again...it is perfect how they made it and the music they used!! Opening song the same, made me burst into tears from nostalgia!!
