Each brother does sing lead at different times throughout there musical catalog. Maurice (the other brother with a beard) not as often as Robin and Berry. Their song called New York Mining Disaster is just one of many that have Robin singing lead. I am drawing a blank on songs that have Maurice on lead.

Barry gets the most comments and reaction when hearing this song, and rightly so as the lead. But, the precision, consistency and quality that Robin and Maurice provide as the backing vocals cannot be overlooked. An absolute master class.

FYI....Barry's also providing backing vocals together with Robin & Mo. This song is 70% of just Barry's lead vocals, & 30% of ALL 3 together on backing!🎵

Jen!!!! What a thrill to see you fan-girling over this song! I could almost see the chill bumps on your arms each time Barry(in the middle) hit his beautiful high as the sky vocals! I was a teenager when The Bee Gees came on the music scene and I was captivated by their unique sound (yes, even through their disco era)! I loved every song they’ve ever sung and you may or may not know that they’re prolific song writers having written huge hits for other artists! So happy to know that you appreciate their talents! Thanks for the reaction video!!❤

Early songs, pre disco, like New York Mining Disaster, I've got to get a message to you, Run to Me, Lonely Days, How can you mend a broken heart and post disco like For Whom the Bell Tolls, I could not love you more, Kiss of Life, Bodyguard...40 plus years of outstanding songwriting and singing. Loved your reaction. Great to hear from someone who knows what their talking about. Fun fact: None of the brothers could read or write a note of music!

Great analysis! I grew up with this great group & had a lot of their albums. Most people react to their disco era. My favorites are from the 60's-70's. Some of their early hits were "New York Mining Disaster 1941", "Holiday", "World", "And The Sun Will Shine", "Really & Sincerely", "The Singer Sang His Song", "Lonely Days", "Melody Fair", "First Of May", "I Started A Joke", "I've Gotta Get A Message To You", "Massachusetts", "To Love Somebody" etc.

That falsetto sound started in 1975 when The Bee Gees moved to Miami from the UK. They were recording “Nights On Broadway” and their producer was the legendary Arif Mardin. He asked if any of them could “scream in falsetto” to ad lib at the end of the song. He was used to hearing Maurice harmonize in falsetto, but was absolutely stunned by the power of Barry’s high pitched voice. So Barry began using it throughout the song and it became a part of their music from then on. 🙂

This performance was truly live, and done in one take. The two supporting brothers were fraternal twins, which probably contributed to their harmonizing. The group donated the rights of this song to UNICEF, and it's raised a considerable amount of money for the charity.

The vocals on this song were triple-tracked - meaning each of the three brothers sang their part 3 times (probably more, but 3 takes were used), and those 9 parts were then mixed together for the final song. It's definitely NOT live, but there's also very little other processing - some EQ and some reverb from an echo chamber is likely to be all. By today's standards, it's completely clean. There were no digital effects and even analog effects were minimal at the time.
@kthor

@@BigTroyT Those 9 parts consisted of 6 with just Barry, & 3 with all three brothers together: Barry on falsetto lead 3 times. Barry falsetto high harmony 3 times. Barry falsetto low harmony 3 times. I’m so glad you got to this one Jenn, I’m telling my age but you are in my era now! I loved to hear their harmonies! My vocal coach says most people have a jump to falsetto or head voice but I have a canyon! I have used this one and a couple of their other songs to work on my crossover! My voice is so heavy! I speak in the 2nd and upper 1 st octave so pretty heavy! They were also great producers. In Kenny and Dolly’s son Island in the stream, you can hear their vocals in the background of that song. Loved this! Low bass Kenneth.

I listen to this song every day. It was released 1978. I was married 1977. If it had been released in 1977, it would have been one of the songs in my wedding. A little background. Barry Gibb (middle) September 1, 1946. He and his wife Linda have been married for 53 years. They have 4 sons and one daughter who is the youngest. Also, 7 grandchildren. Barry's chest is shiny with blotches because when he was about 18 months, he pulled a pot of hot tea from off of a table. His mom said he didn't speak for a long time (close to 2 years.) He was close to dying because there was no skin grafting back then and gangrene was beginning to set in. Barry said he has no memory of it happening, just the scars to prove. Robin (on our left - long hair) and Maurice (on our right - short hair) were fraternal twins. Maurice Gibb (December 22, 1949 - January 12, 2003) heart attack, while getting surgery for twisted intestines. Survived by wife and 2 adult children. Robin Gibb (December 22, 1949 - May 20, 2012) doctors found out he had the same intestine problems as Maurice. When they went in to fix it, they found cancer. He is survived by wife and 4 adult children. Andy Gibb - not pictured (March 5, 1958 - March 10, 1988) He was too young to sing with his brothers. He had his own successful career. He and Barry could have been identical twins. He had a bad heart. Andy is survived by one daughter. You know the song 'Emotion' sung by Destiny's Child? (Beyonce' was a member of the group.) The brothers wrote the song (1977) for the singer Samantha Sang. Destiny's Child has too much drama in it. Barry said he liked it. Emotion kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mMWnh72b1J_Fqp8.htmlsi=Y863cKzsfSsxKiTP They wrote their own songs and wrote and produced songs for a lot of other artists. Barry didn't always sing in falsetto. They were asked if someone could sing falsetto on a song. Barry volunteered, and the rest is history. Robin sings falsetto too. On a side note, the first born is their sister, Lesley (Gibb) Evans. She can sing, but she did not want to be in the limelight. She lives a quiet life. She and Barry are the last two survivors of the family. (Their parents are deceased also.) Maurice passed away on Lesley's 58th birthday. They were so popular that some radio stations had a 'Bee Gees free' weekend. NO requests for their songs. There's so much to write about them. In your spare time, I think you'll like what they have contributed to the music industry. I recommend the following songs: Staying Alive kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f8WZrdlyx86pqI0.htmlsi=7p2Pbvfime9eHGc-&t=1 How Deep Is Your Love kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jtahpM2GnNuZiZc.htmlsi=TJzrh9ns2v1rUvnH Spirits Having Flown kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jb1yedOgqtioc4E.htmlsi=3mpRsV0a-kfCMDWX Shadow Dancing (Andy Gibb) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bdCPrKqKusXOhYk.htmlsi=fgwTh0Si29Axvb7S Bodyguard kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fN5li9p6sKnXY6M.htmlsi=ZR3i-vkS0bTbUsMd You Should Be Dancing (Andy is with them in this video: from the movie Saturday Night Fever) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d9ufZZx1tcy-Ynk.htmlsi=XevU5_t8wV8gQCBS&t=1 You Win Again kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gcCJbNKKuLnOdn0.htmlsi=tNkXzwYEE2uOUi1I Secret Love kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n7yjmLKEq7qrcas.htmlsi=5DFjJ0rTH1_6GvEw For Whom the Bells Toll kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oLqfqtyKq76thY0.htmlsi=kqPuP-VmVOO8dkca

The Bee Gees were a BIG part of my childhood. I was there for Saturday Night Fever and DISCO! When The Bee Gees had the soundtrack for Saturday Night Fever, I played it on my record player until it was worn out and skipping.. then I bought another one! Their sound was unmistakable. Barry Gibb is still alive (the one in the middle) but the fraternity twins Maurice and Robin died several years ago, 2003 and 2012 respectively. They also had a younger brother Andy that was not a part of The Bee Gees, but did have his own music career. Andy was the first brother to die at only 30yrs old.😢 I think it was at least partly from many years of drug & alcohol abuse. Thank you for taking me back down memory lane.❤

I remember this (and many more of their songs) when they came out. Obviously, Saturday Night Fever really put them into the stratosphere, but they wer well known far earlier. They "formed" the group the year I was born (1958), so that's always been one of my favorite trivia questions. They could (can) harmonize the way only siblings can... effortlessly and seamlessly. I don't always witness YOU getting goosebumps, so that was special! Great reaction!!

--------------------- Thank you for your observations and reaction to The Bee Gees! They are my favorite group and I subscribed to your channel just now! Here’s a list with my interpretation of what genre I think they fall under: Too Much Heaven (R&B) Went to #1 YOU JUST DID THIS ONE How Deep Is Your Love (R&B Ballard), went to #1 Staying Alive (disco), went to #1 Night Fever (disco), went to #1 You Should Be Dancing (R&B or disco), went to #1 Fanny be tender with my love (R&B). Quincy Jones said this was his favorite R&B song. It’s a favorite of mine too. Jive Talking (R&B), went to #1 Nights on Broadway (R&B/Funk)..you’ll hear the brothers “natural” voices in this song. Tragedy (Techno? Pop) It also went #1 More than a woman (Disco/R&B) One of the best love songs ever made! Love you inside out (Funk/pop), went to #1 To love somebody (R&B) One of their earlier hits, from 1967!!! You’ll see how young they were. Massachusetts (pop/country), went to #1 Wind of Change (funk/r&b), live 1975 from the Midnight Special or live from their 1979 Spirits tour. They sing in their natural voices on this song. Alone (pop): One of the songs they made late in their career. Love So Right (R&B), One of Barry’s best falsetto songs ever. Words (pop, 1979 Spirits Tour). Barry pours his heart out on this song and they show his wife & son on screen some while he was performing it. Lonely Days (pop). One of the first songs they wrote after they got back together when they briefly broke up in 1969 then got back together in 1970 to write this. You Win Again (pop), If you want to hear some 80’s Bee Gees, this is a good one. Went #1 in the UK Run to Me (pop) How Can you mend a broken heart (R&B). The other song they wrote when they first got back together after a brief breakup. It was also their first #1 in the US Kiss of Life (rock). Shows a diverse side of them. One (pop), their last top 10 hit in the US Wedding Day (pop), a single they wrote for their wives! All of them had been married for a while. Barry is will married to this day to Linda for over 53 years! Rest Your Love on Me Awhile (country). Shows diversity! Bodyguard (R&B), Robb really shines on this song that could have been played on any R&B radio station! For Whom the Bell Tolls (pop), again, Robin shines on this one. Blue Island - live (pop). This song shows the perfect blend & harmony the brothers have. Especially if you do the acoustic one. Just the 3 of them with 2 guitars! Our Love, Don't Throw it all away-Bee Gee's or Andy's version (pop). After their brother Andy passed, they started performing this during shows in honor of him. Secret Love (pop). I love the best to this song! Barry & Robin leads. This is Where I Came in (live) (pop). From the very last CD they ever released. There is a live version out there from a tv show. That's a great one to see how they have evolved into the 2000's! The 1989 One for all tour medley (excellent vocals & some humor). This is a little long (over 12 min), but they go through about 7-9 songs in this medley with just the 3 of them around 1 mic either Barry in the guitar. If you want to see them (the Bee Gees) and how they work in the studio try: (A) the making of their song "Tragedy" from 1979 (B) The making of the song "Just in Case" (C) The making of the video "This is Where I Came in" from their last cd in 2001

There's great live versions of "Paranoid Android" on Later with Jools Holland or "Street Spirit (Fade out)" in Yokohama. Totally different but that's Radiohead

The fact that your channel has been around as long as it has, and you haven’t reacted to this, should be a crime. I’ve seen a ton of your videos, and for you to miss this!!! What??

Jenn. Greeat reaction. So many awesome Bee Gees songs and they reinvented themselves along the way so quite different styles as well. Always that great Bee Gees sound. Have you done any John Farnham reactions. He has an amazing voice & is the ultimate showman & all round great guy. Help(The Beatles) wit the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra & his signature song You're the Voice also with the MSO are good starting points. Always do live for John. & When something is wrong with my baby with Jimmy Barnes. ..brilliant & Stone Cold by Jimmy Barnes and Joe Bonamassa...So much good Aussie music ❤

Bee Gees born on the Isle of Man 🇮🇲 of the coast of Britain 🇬🇧, this performance of ( To Much Heaven) was a children’s charity event for UNICEF and the three brothers donated the proceeds to the charity, Bee Gees the only band in history to have Written, produced, and recorded 6 N01 hits in a row, also they had the best selling album of all time until Michael Jackson brought out his ( Thriller) album, Jackson mentioned his inspiration for his Thriller album came from the Bee Gees, The brothers Gib first and foremost always considered themselves songwriters before being Vocalists, but they are outstanding singers, no Auto Tune in them times just pure talent, the brothers were considered to be one of the best songwriters ever, they have written songs for many famous artists to many to mention and for films,I attended a Bee gees live concert in Las Vegas in 1997 called one night only, The brothers were phenomenal live, the guys have sold over 260 million records worldwide over 6 decades, great reaction thanks 🙏

Great reaction. It’s good when a professional vocalist and coach, breaks the song down to its core. You touched on every bit of their performance. You must react to “for whom the bell tolls”live version in NY city. You will enjoy. Welcome to the rabbit hole.

They wrote over1,000 songs, hits for other artists, whole albums too. Try Jive talking, Robin did I started a Joke. Mo did lead on some songs too, his voice was deeper. Staying Alive is the perfect rhythm for CPR so medical students learn it, it saves lots of lives. They got an award.

They wrote this song, Tragedy and Shadow Dancing (for their brother, Andy) in ONE day! Barry is sadly the only one left and he is still making music!!!!! They donated all proceeds from this song to charity! Robin has some amazing vibrato (I Started A Joke)! One of my favorites is Tragedy!

The falsetto style was a late, accidental discovery while Barry was playing around in the studio, and it saved their careers. Check work from the 60s or very early 70s for the early ballads, often rather dark, such as Gotta Get a Message to You. Can also check younger brother Andy's "I Just Want to Be Your Everything" on which the older brothers sang back up.

I can't believe this was actually recorded live...although if not , it would have to be the best lip synching ever seen...from the Wikipedia page: 'They performed it at the Music for UNICEF Concert on 9 January 1979.'
