This one made me think of how I did this to our 51 GMC Freezer Truck when I was 15! She needed to move after 30+ years of holding Ice Cream behind our Market and I took on the challenge. It went just like this but used a giant screwdriver to kick the starter . I finally drove her with square tires about a mile to her new resting place where the buyer pulled the freezer box off and used it while the Truck was sold off. She was a genuine Knudsen milk truck from 51! In 50 years she only had 28K!

My grandfather had an older GMC farm truck early 50’s, floor shift. Drove it in his 80’s , always started it in gear never using the clutch! He also had a 50 mercury car 4 door. He passed away while I was in the Navy and they were sold cheap to a local car collector who knew they would be worth money someday. Always wished I could have got them.

I sure do like that GMC. Back in the late 80s I found a 1950 gmc 1/2 ton short, side step pu and was able to trade for it with a 1963 buick special I had gotten for free, but it had no interior whatsoever. That 1950 gmc was in great shape, and the interior was all remarkably in nice shape other than the seat, which I replaced.. I put a lot of work into it and then 3 years later the transmission went and i could not get one anywhere at the time in my area, and there was no Internet, and I didn't know anything about finding parts across the country. I wound up selling it for about $1,000 to a guy for his son.. I still miss that truck, wish I'd held onto it, but had nowhere to keep it. Edit: the Buick was a 64' not 63'

I didn't go through all the comments but I did see that at least one person noticed it has the wrong engine in it. That's a 54-62 full-pressure 235 Chevy engine, which did not come in that truck originally. Actual GMc straight sixes are so rarely seen these days that even if it did have the original engine most people would assume it's a 'stovebolt six". Fix the stuck valve and it should run a lot better.
