This is insane. Today, 3-09-2022, one of my FB friends put up a list of the funniest insults by famous authors, and I noticed a conspicuous lack of Dorothy Parker. I did a report on her for a literature class back in college, and she was the absolute queen of one-liners. So anyway I looked her up again TODAY, read her epitaph quotation TODAY, and just saw this link and thought, 'hey I missed today's Final Jeopardy, let's see what happened.'

Even better than you giving us this tidbit, that no one was asking for, would have been you keeping it to yourself, so that your unnecessary comment didn’t give out hints that Sylvia Plath was an incorrect response. I, and I assume others, would like the opportunity to try to get the correct response on our own.

I agree that people who read the comments before watching the game have no reason to complain. I was on the receiving end of a very snarky comment about that. Really, the comments are to discuss the content. That can’t be done without spoilers.

The more time Jeopardy spends deliberating on who should be the next permanent host is time that's wasted. You have the guy right there in front of you.

Never even considered Dorothy Parker. I wasn't certain if Plath was a bit later so avoided it. For some reason my brain defaulted to Virginia Woolf. Couldn't change my mind.

After this week’s episodes, Ken will host the following two weeks of shows. He is under contract to host the majority of episodes this season, and will reach the 100 show mark on Friday. That means he will have hosted more episodes than ones he has appeared as a contestant or guest.

I always put my hand over the lower portion of my phone- which is where I watch these clips to avoid seeing comments that give the correct response , or a wrong one that I’m guessing. Lots of us are guilty of that.

That will never happen here, folks. Same reason Wheel of Fortune full shows or any other current games shows are not here. It's a TV show and it's all about ratings for Sony...and ad revenue. In this case with Jeopardy and WOF, syndication deals and contracts are at play here too. They post these short clips to entice you to catch the full show when it is aired on your local channels. If you are that insistent to want to see a full show here on YT for example, you can do a search; someone in most cases will record it at home and upload it to YT..at least until they get caught and it is taken down.

Dorothy Parker is better known as a wit and member of the Algonquin circle who met at that hotel in New York. Her short stories are still anthologized and her verse, (technically not poetry) is darkly humorous. "Razors pain you. Rivers are damp. Acids stain you. And drugs cause cramp. Guns aren't lawful. Nooses give. Gas smells awful. You might as well live.". She reviewed books in the New Yorker as "Constant Reader". Of "Winnie the Pooh" she wrote "Tonstant weader fwowed up".

I never thought of Parker as a poet. A raconteur, a wit, a writer, yes. But never a poet.

The clue made it pretty clear it was a woman. Evelyn Waugh was male, Evelyn at one point being a not unheard of British man's name.
