The prophet Jeremiah allowed God to speak through him in unusual ways to open the eyes of the people of Israel. As we complete our flight over his book, we find the prophet reinvigorated by God's promises as he continued to prophesy Babylon's impending invasions and, ultimately, Judah's captivity. Then our flight continues over the poetic book of Lamentations, which Jeremiah wrote as he wept and grieved over Jerusalem's destruction, ending the book with a prayer for Israel's restoration from captivity.
This teaching is from our series The Bible from 30,000 Feet - 2018 with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Church.

I cannot even express he gratitude for this lesson I have right now! Years ago I heard a sermon on Jeremiah and the book of lamentation of the speakers take away was it’s ok to be mad at God😩I prayed for all listening to have discernment in their hearts regarding this take away.. Listening and hovering over this message from skip I had nothing but extreme gratitude to God for all the chastening He has put into my life!! Anything a person could consider a woo is me in thy life I flipped it and saw nothing but blessings from it!! Thank you Skip for teaching the word the way the Lord intended it to be taught!!!

Interesting analogy about sheet music and playing music by ear. Reminds me of Gordon Mote who plays piano by the ear.

I love the bible passage that tells of a future time when the City of David will be uncovered, revealing archaeological evidence & ancient articles recovered as the dust & sand from thousands of years is shaken from it! Nothing that’s covered (or hidden) will remain covered (or hidden). Everything will be uncovered & revealed & anything secret will become known.

There is no way I can ignore having skin diseases most of my 76 years. The reminders are obviously visible on my epidermis. I was taken to T or C, New Mexico for mud baths as a child of 8.

Skip, an excellent study and thoroughly enjoyable! One very small point, and I hope you don't mind me pointing it out. @ 24:55 the month of Av is not the 11th month in the Jewish Calendar but the 5th month - so this is not dated as 9/11(Gregorian style) amongst the Jewish people. The date of the destruction of temple was either the seventh of the 5th month (2 Kg 25:8) or the tenth of the 5th month (Jer 52:12). Once again, thank you for the message Skip!

It depends on where you begin counting. If you use the calendar found in the Hebrew Scriptures (see Exod. 12, Lev. 23), the first month of the year is Nisan (~April) and you are correct, Av is 5th. However for more than 2000 years, the Jewish new year (Rosh Hashanah) has been celebrated on the Feast of Trumpets in the month of Tishrei (~September), in which case Av is indeed 11th, as the preacher said.

I love your teaching, I just dont agree on Abbas laws been done away with. The new covenant is a renewal of a marriage covenant He made with us at Mt. Siniah. It's a beautiful love story. God writes out the marriage certificate ( 10 commandments) His people commit adultery with worshiping idols. That covenant is broken,How can He mend it,by coming in the flesh, to die,and so able to renew the marriage covenant through death. This is the new covenant. Not doing away with the old,but making a way for us ,after we committed adultery to be able to be back I'm covenant with Him. Christ himself kept the feasts, and the law,and says many will come in that day and say Lord,I did this......and not He says depart from me,you workers of lawlessness. So we do and obey His whole Word because we Love Him,not for salvation because Christ has given us Salvation, but we obey because of our Love for the Father. Obedience better than sacrifice
