Out to dinner with some new friends Tim, Kyle, and David. We talked over dinner about our favorite drinks and the subject of Wild Turkey 101 came up as a topic of conversation. We all felt that this spirit is often overlooked and under-rated. When you actually try it and stack it up agains other more expensive bottles it definitely holds its own. Evan Williams 1783 is 🔥 I passed it up many times and now that I've finally tried it, it's my new favorite budget pour. It reminds me of the Heaven Hill Bottled In Bond 7 year, but for less than half the price. It's a slightly lower proof than the Evan Williams Bottled In Bond but it has a much better flavor in my opinion.

I almost fell off my rocker, tripped on a gizzard, and threw up in my mouth a little bit when Old Tub kept showing up in Jeremy’s bracket! I wanted to like Old Tub so so bad just putting it out there and couldn’t do it. It was awful. It was like someone had an old bar of soap sitting in a bottle of bourbon. Turkey 101 Hallaler!!!! Wild Turkey is my favorite distillery!! Kentucky Spirit is my favorite bourbon. Period. Rare Breed and Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel are extremely close seconds. The 101 is unreal for the price. Everything they do is good!!

Turkey 101 made a huge impression on me in 1983, and still does! I have more than 100 bottles of various bourbons, but still enjoy WT 101 every few weeks as a quintessential bourbon that is just delicious!

Good Video. I have not had a lot of these but IMO the Jim Beam Double Oaked is the best bourbon in the blind with Four Roses being 2nd. I think Old Forester 86 is better than any of the ones I have tried and WT101 and EWBIB are ones I have tried..

If you're going with Very Old Barton, then you have to get the 100 proof version. It's still only $15-$20. I agree with your results though. Wild Turkey 101 is the best budget bourbon without question. I was happy to see it beat Evan Williams BIB in a direct comparison too. So many people try to push that one as better than WT101, but they're not even close imo.

I had never really tried Wild Turkey 101, until stocking up on a bunch of different bourbon's for COVID lock down. Always thought it was cheap and wouldn't be good. Out of all the different bourbon's I purchased, I ended up loving the Wild Turkey 101 and it is still a go to for me.

Top tip .if you are a whiskey guy .and someone buys you a not too good bottle...pop an aniseed ball and a drizzle of honey in the bottle and leave for a few months. It magically becomes vanilla honey toffee apple. Candy sipping whiskey ..the amassed ball dosn't melt .it adds tho

I've been a big fan of the Jim Beam Double Oaked for a few years, particularly for cocktails but it's a decent sipper too. The turkey 101 is awesome and I recently tried Early Times bottled in bond that was surprisingly good.

First of all, Alison is a stunner. Second of all, I enjoyed this vid. Like everything else these days, liquor prices have gotten ridiculous. I'm now in Mississippi, where we have a state-run ABC. So liquor is costlier than what I was paying in Florida. Good to know there are some decent affordable whiskeys out there. (I'll have to try the Wild Turkey 101. It's been a long time since I've drank that, and apparently, it's still really good!) What am I smoking? Not cigars. Cornell & Diehl Chenet's Cake in a generic Danish-style pipe. It's a blend of Virginia & perique tobaccos.

I am a Russell’s hardcore lover, I started my bourbon journey 100 years ago 😂 with plain wild turkey rye which I don’t even think they make anymore. I love with all my tastebuds the Russell’s mashbill I have had them all but WT 101 repulses my tastebuds and I do not know why, it makes no sense but as soon as it hits my tongue I hurl. My budget bottles are OF 100 and WT101 rye, I could even make due if I had to with benchmark but they are so watered down. I appreciate your time and all of the collateral effectage with doing a blind this huge, thank you.

In Europe the problem (at least where I live) is the price. Only Maker's, both Jim Beam's, Four Roses and Jack are 25$ or below. Wild Turkey 101 is slightly above 25$, but half of the rest is >35$ and another half is 50$ or more. But all of these are available which is surprising. (edit: most in "special" stores)

I've tried most of these and I will admit that I have quickly become a Lux Row fan. I can't stop picking up the Ezra Brooks 99. Also the wild Turkey 101 is my number two Tops list. I would buy it but I've already got two Ezra Brooks 99 in my hand on the way to the counter. On the flip side I hated the very Old Barton so much that I wrote NO on the bottle for my wife never to buy again... I was not surprised that those two came to the finish. Would be a front row seat for me!

The best thing about this video is that you brought out that there are very good ‘cheap’ bourbons. The reason why they’ve been around for 100+ years is because they are good. I’ve had several $50-80 bottles of whiskey that can’t hold a flame to the old classics.

I have never had WT101 yet I just keep seeing it on Whiskey videos and it is consistently rated high. BIg fan of JB Black as a daily go to as well as Old Forester. Four Roses and Elijah Craig are also faves.

WT 101 has been my go-to since I discovered it. I'm 55 and have only drunk bourbon for 5 years. Of those you rated that I've had, WT 101 is first, Maker's mark is second, Evan Williams and Four Roses were poor and JB black and JD are undrinkable. The black is the only alcohol I've poured down the drain and I only use JD when I make ice cream drinks like black cows. Has a metallic aftertaste to me.

years ago I drank Old Ezra 15 year old sour mash . 1980 it was &15.00 came in a wooden box .my friend and I would go to the state store in Ohio ,and pick out 3 or 4 bottles and do what your doing , tried Old Ezra , and liked it so much Id drink a shot in the morning before breakfast , great channel

Lol. Love it. Dickel and old grandad tend to make it to hunting camp frequently....but my favorites of your list is the old forester, 101, and four roses. Jeremy can't believe you don't like the roses..they tend to be so vanilla-ee. Elijah Craig is just a touch over the $25 budget but would have been a great contender. Heck ya guys!

Great video! I watched a couple other channels "March Madness" and enjoyed them, but nobody tops you on production quality and featuring the products with awesome shots. I was rooting for OF 100, but WT 101 certainly punches above its weight class. Side note- in the AG1 spot I thought you said it was "rectummended"🤣. Feel free to trademark and use that word, hahaha. I took 4 weeks off, dry month, along with Align probiotic, and my gut health improved 100%...much better than when I was daily drinking bourbon. Back at it but a much smaller rate.

Can happily say as a Kentucky plumber I’ve worked in at least small handful of the distilleries mentioned here. Curious if you ever tried anything from Wilderness Trail or Limestone Branch (their Yellowstone bourbon is one of my favorites) #whiskeybusiness #beardbrand

I've never had old tub. Now I'm going to go grab a bottle. I agree on the WT101, it is the best all arounder out there. Never had jim beam black either. Always just kinda made assumptions it wouldn't be good. I'm grabbing that too. Shame on me for assuming lol.

Glenbar 12 Scotch $35 at local store. Taste almost like Macallan 12. Best Scotch for price I'd go with Glenbar 12

I have bought a TON of cheapies and the only bottle under 25 bucks i have finished and rebought is Evan Williams Bottled In Bond.

WT 101 has been by go to for over 30 years. I also find Evan Williams Black Label and White Label to be very nice as well.

I'm torn between Wild Turkey and Evan Williams on my purchase, I chose Evan Williams BIB because its cheaper. Now I'm gonna pickup Wild Turkey 101 next. Nice video!
