Jermaine is probably the best CDM we have ever had. Super under appreciated and I remember the vitriol spewed out about him because he wasn’t born in the US. This is still a stain on US soccer in both the fans, media, and some former players (especially an outspoken one).

I watched him play at Schalke and thought he was a such a good player. When he came onto the national team, i knew the team wasnt in a place to bolster his skillset. one of the things america has always had a problem with, is coaching. tactics. we've always been behind the 8-ball as a country. for us to take the next step as a footballing country, we've gotta prioritize grassroots football and tactics at that level in both players and coaching.

I really don't think Landon was referring to Jones when he made those comments. Landon wasn't referring to all dual nationals, which would be silly considering how many of his friends were Mexican-Americans. I'm a little disappointed Kate re-framed his statement in the way she did to make it sound like he was referring to Jones. It was clear to me, from watching that episode that he was referring to some specific players who wanted to jump on the USMNT train, just to be able to go to a World Cup. I think we all know who they were...because we never saw them after the World Cup...

Funny, if Jermaine Jones would have grown up only in the US. He might have a better status in the US, but he would have been a different player. He might have the better status, but not the better manager today. And with the German national team, Jermaine was always kind of an outsider. He played for clubs that not always were considered to be good enough for an international player from Germany at that time. You had to play for Bayern, Dortmund, Schalke or Werder at that time. Or he played abroad, what might hinders to be in the public eye. And he was considered to be a flashy personality and a potential trouble maker. That was the image, if right or wrong. That might be the reason established players like Ballack and Frings were advocating for players they knew and were in the same club with (Borowski). In the end Borowski, a good player, was the guy who would sit on the bench without complaining and you could bring in for 15 to 20 minutes. Whereas Jones was a wild card for them, he was a different type of player. And they did not want to make the effort to find out if this player no. 18 or 19 on the team was different than his public image. Sometimes people change and what they experienced in the past makes them better people today. To start at the bottom is not that bad, you don't owe anybody if you make it. And I disagree with statement about being open as ammunition against someone. I think, if you go public, they can not harm you with that anymore. You made the decision to share that how can it used against you? Not that people have to share everything. But I don't see it as "ammunition".

The way Kate framed Landon's statement - about players who dont care as much about the national team - to insinuate that it included Jones was sneaky. This is why she's been in the medoa so long. A lack of morals and an ability to put money first and go for the clicks! Also, Landon's statement was driven a bit by bitterness- at not being picked.
