I disagree. His tone is good and his points are correct; however, he is an amateur instructor. He is introducing "power" in this first lesson? Here is everything he mentions in this one lesson: Feet position, hands ahead of the ball, grip change, thighs together at finish, don't hit down, don't come over the top, position ball forward, flatten downswing. Therefore, i say he is a terrible coach. You implement one small change, ESPECIALLY with people just learning. He is doing a terrible disservice to this guy.

Got back into golf after almost 10 years, hell still even use my old high school bag and burners i used back then. Lost complete touch of my driver and woods especially, which used to be my favorite to hit. This lesson on grip was such an insanely good refresher. Gave me flashbacks to lessons I had as a kid. Went to the range yesterday and felt pure contact on all my clubs since ~2010. Gold mine of lessons in here man, big thanks to you and mike

I've watched this video four times at least. I kind of wrote it off at first because I hate using that strong grip. But the fourth time I watched it, I understand why he was recommending it. Dude, I then put it together today. Getting ahead of the club, shallowing it out (out to in swing), and creating lag are all the same thing. When people break it down to one thing, it never made sense. You can't do one of these things without doing them all at once. And once you do it, you'll never swing the old way again. I'm hitting whiffle balls in the back yard and they are coming off the club face like rockets. This is nutz! What happens next is you stop finishing your backswing because you want to get ahead of it more. So I slowed down, let myself finish the backswing and then get ahead of it. The strong grip helps you get ahead of the club as well and get into that bowed wrist you want at impact. Once I did this right, I instantly got a mental image of the swing path from address to backswing to downswing and follow through. Thanks for the videos and thanks to your coach. Put his name in the description. I need to come from Ohio to San Diego just to see him. This is the best golf instruction video I've seen on youtube.

Mike is unbelievably smart. I’ve been playing since I was 12 yrs old and have not heard anyone (PGA pros or have read articles) that explains the 4 keys that Mike talks about. This is pretty close to Ben Hogans secret. The only thing that is not in line with Mike and Hogan is the grip. Hogan has the V’s in the grip pointing to the right eye. Mike has the grip stronger. What you need Mike to do next is give you a playing lesson (even if it’s only 3 holes). With a playing lesson this might cut the learning curve by a lot. Good Luck - channel is awesome.

@jeromerufin - I know you need to produce content. But you have all you need for the next 2 weeks. Everyday spend 1 hour rehearsing the stance, grip and practice swing with good finish that he showed you. Hit maybe 10-20 balls max just to get a feeling, mostly just do air swings, but always step back and re-grip and re-do your stance. Then spend 1 hour doing you stretches/hip exercises and 2 hours chipping and putting. After 2 weeks of that go back to the course you played last week and see how your game has changed. Keep up the grind.

if you go to the pet store... there is a ball throwing gadget... you place a ball at one end.. and you hold the handle... in order to get the ball to release properly, you have to have wrist snap... wrist snap that is similar to when you try skipping a stone on water... if your not feeling wrist snap in the right hand, that is similar to the stone skipping feel... then you are not creating enough speed in the down swing.... The reason this coach keeps saying to get the hands ahead quickly in the downswing, is so that you create lag... that lag will be felt in both hands... in the right hand in will feel similar to the lag you create when you're attempting to skip stones on water.... you release that stone at the "last minute" to generate as much speed as possible... and the same applies in the swing..

Brother you are coming along quickly. You are asking the right questions but not hearing what the instructors are trying to tell you or they are not speaking your language. Relax your arms at the top of the backswing and use your lower body to swing the club through. All of the positions they are trying to force you to get to will just happen. To get a feel for this, hold the club parallel to the ground (1/3 of the way back) in your backswing and throw the club through by rotation of your lower body let your upper body and arms go along for the ride. The golf swing is that simple. Golf is a game of distances, the most important being the 6 inches between your ears.
@ShockSlice

It seems like theres some conflicting philosophy between your coach at golf tec and Mike. Just one example is golf tec told you to twist the club handle to close it and Mike tells you to close it by rotating. Im sure both work but having conflicting teachers is bound to create nightmares for you.

You are giving yourself no time to concentrate and work on things before you fill your head with more information, it’s to much for anyone, which is your priority, content, subscribers , or getting better at golf ? Don’t get me wrong I’m loving the content but you are trying to much to soon

This seems like the worst advice ever. Basically make your grip strong until you hook it and then reduce that strong grip a bit and you will hit it straight. Need to work on the other aspects that are causing the problems. This is creating worse issues down the road.

Run from this guy, don’t walk. This guy is all over the board in his instruction, I guarantee you left this lesson more confused than when you showed up. Perfect example is he starts teaching him driver then quick switches to iron. No way he learned anything valuable in this lesson.

Seriously, DUMP the Golftec coach and stick with Mike. He can play, and he can teach. You are hurting yourself by not sticking with one coach, especially one as good as him. Good luck.

You are matching your grip which your body is able to do. You are not Rahm or Morikawa, you dont need to bow. Listen to your coach. He is correct. Make a Jerome swing bro.
