Finally, we hear some new music, from one of the true giants, no doubt, that happens to finally sound like the 90's again! What an excellent song! I simply can't say enough, and to Jerry always pushing the proverbial, artistic envelope, and even with a fount of new music...cheers! to one of the pioneers of this stripe, and so much more!

It’s not my favorite style but it’s always been a part of Jerry because he’s a very versatile musician so I’m glad he gotta put out a record like this for people to hear even more of his versatility. Not my favorite style but this album is still quality

Yeah, at first impression I really miss some heavier stuff, riffs...but I wasn't expecting Brighten (album) to be something like Degradation Trip, obviously (it's impossible to beat DT for me, Jerry's masterpiece imo)...I was just hoping for some heavier stuff too...but it's ok.

I always felt that Boggy Depot was what Jerry sounded like solo and DT was the Alice album that never happened. Brighten makes me feel right.

@@ajbowen9371 Well, it's all Jerry...both Boggy Depot and Degradation Trip. He's the sound of AIC...but yeah, DT (one of my favorite albums ever) is something in the AIC kinda vibe. For Brighten (album as a whole) I feel he turned almost full country. Too much for me, not the music I really enjoy to listen to...but it's ok. Doesn't surprise me as he loves country too. There are also some YT videos of Jerry's performances of songs (Bad Moon Rising, Who'll Stop the Rain) celebrating John Fogerty of CCR...his country influences are evident...even on some AIC songs and his 1st solo album.

@@MLCrow pro false idol. yeh i would of like some heavy riffs. at least we got some guitar solos no wah pedal usage. some electic steel guitar organ country but you get the cantrell riffs thrown in there. and this song feels like it might come off degrdation trip .

@@broski4851 Ok, I just miss heavier songs (talking about the heavy riffs in particular) kinda in: Psychotic Break, Anger Rising, Castaway, Owned, Spiderbite, Dying Inside, Thanks Anyway, Chemical Tribe, S.O.S...I know Cantrell is not in such a dark place anymore...but I would have preferred Brighten to have just few songs (2 or 3) with some nasty/heavy Cantrell-ish riffs too. That's just my personal opinion, obviously. I'm happy the majority (based on comments) are enjoying his new album. Cantrell is a badass.
