Its a shame that a legendary group like the inkspots can be forgotten one generation later. Every time i hear jerry daniels sing and play guitar it is obviously clear to me that the man is a musical genius.

This is my mother's cousin. I grew up listening to him play his guitar and sing, at family gatherings and such! I was telling my 21 year old son about him and he decided to Google him and what do you know!! I never even knew these videos of him existed. Thank you for this!!!❤

Sorry for being like... 4 days late to the party. Anyways, listening to this gave me more confusion than anything else. Most of the stuff he says don't really match up with More Than Words Can Say. Stuff like how The Ink Spots got their name. Marv says they just stole it from a dance band, while Jerry here confirms the story that was on the sleeves 78 & 45 re-releases of If I Didn't Care / Do I Worry from 1950 (i think) about the drops of Ink. Also talking about Moe Gale from back during the Victor Scroll period of their records. Also saying how the 1st 4 Scroll recordings received "National Attention" and other such things. That's the problem you have when talking to people about memories from 20+ years ago, most of the time people weren't keeping too much track anyhow so they'll get some dates wrong and such. You don't want to just discount what they're saying, even though you know that some of the stuff their saying isn't exactly right because of recorded logs or stuff like the Charts and other things. Thanks for posting this, as always your Inkspottery is extremely exclusive and can't really be found anywhere else.

C Porter The story about the naming of the group is myth. It’s a great story but really Gale wanted them to have a black sounding name and took the name from “The 3 Ink Spots”. The guys knew this but the fountain pen story was much more interesting so they always told it. Everything else here is very accurate though. He did kind of build up the success of the group but not too much really. It’d be fascinating if we had video/audio like this of Fuqua.
