I believe Jerry was jealous of Jim Bakker's successes. When Bakker became vulnerable, He jumped at the opportunity to take over.

I think he was wrong for telling such personal matters about Jim's affair and sexuality as well as reading Tammy's request. Farwell was so wrong in coming out publicly the way he did.

I was there at PTL during all of this...before and after. My grandparents would go often and take me with them and boy did I pay attention. So this whole story intrigues me to this day. I saw some horrible things tho.....like gospel legend Vestal Goodman being spoken to and handled horribly after the takeover. So those were Jerry's people. Since this interview we all pretty much know what happened. Heritage USA was closed and fell into ruins. Ole Jerry here has since pasted away along with Tammy Faye. Ole Jimmy boi went to prison for 5 yes. But within the last few years part of the old Heritage USA has been purchased and revitalized by another religious organization ( steer clear of that one too). But ironically the big winner in all this has been Jimmy boi. He's been back with a new wifey and ministry still conning ppl out their money with his doomsday propaganda. Tammy Faye Baker tells a different story about Jerry Falwell and Pat Robinson. She states that Jerry came to them and took advantage of Jim doing his time of despair and try to take over their ministry. What many do not know is that the 700 club was Jim Bakers idea Jim was the original host of the 700 club. Pat Robison at the time was struggling in the ratings and Jim and Tammy came on board and the rating went up and Pat threw them out and took their ideas and made it his own.

Jerry Falwell was not a friend to Jim Bakker he was mean spirited I can't believe he was a Paster he acted and behaved more like a private investigator.

May these examples be a guide to all pastors and church leaders to avoid this behavior and just do the right thing under God.

My family and I we're involved with the ministry! What Jerry did was right! People around the world, let alone the PTL community needed to know the truth! Jerry had issues but there we're other issues with depts such as the choir! Half came because of PTL and others because God sent us down! I don't know what to say after some of these comments on Falwell. He sent me a large bible I can read I really enjoyed this bible. My mouth fell open when I heard him telling things about PTL.

It would have been nice if you had the chance to interview Tammy Faye and had her side of the story. Mr.Falwell, died before Tammy Faye and she found forgiveness in heart before she died. To me still find it strange that Mr.Falwell and Tammy Faye died in the same year with in few months part. I hope one day you can interview people who run TBN and Daystar, because I would like to get their side of the story. Please know that I do not watch or support TBN or Daystar. But, I do still believe in Jesus and in God, but I would never allow my self to become wealthy on God's word.

This is more of a shoot interview on PTL as well as a burial of the Jim and Tammy. Falwell got himself over in this interview.

There's no doubt that Jim and Jerry are/were completely different people. Jim emotional and concerned with how he is thought of; Jerry cerebral and not caring what people think of him. Jim had the warmth and vulnerability that made people believe him and want to protect him. Jerry seemed cold instead, and not to be liked or supported, but he couldn't compromise after fully understanding the volume of the situation.

I respect Falwell as I would any other pastor. However, he and many others were like self righteous sharks to devour another. The Bible talks of trying to restore a brother. David sinned and was forgiven. Peter denied Christ, was forgiven. Had Judas not hung himself he could have been forgiven. Jim Baker was never given that chance. As ugly as the 80s were in the church (Swaggart, Baker, Roberts), what Jerry did was just as ugly. Sad. To the outside world they had to think, how can the church love me, a sinner, if they can't even love and forgive each other.

The problem with these servants of God there isn't any checks and balances. They aren't any better than you or any worse than you. According to their own teachings is the reason why Jesus died on the cross that all people sin.

I don't know which one is telling the truth, but according to Tammy's book, Jerry Falwell made a list of offers that he was willing to give Jim and Tammy. Jerry sent the messenger with the list to Jim and Tammy and asked them to write what they would accept on their own stationary. Jim wrote at the bottom that he and Tammy made no demands of Heritage USA. While I am sure there was enough guilt from all parties to go around, I think Jerry Falwell wanted the satellite system, with was state of the art at that time. I think he was willing to bankrupt Heritage USA to get it. There were also reports that he moved some of the higher priced furniture to his college, Liberty University, to be used there.
