Two cousins having fun.....so much talent.....just learned a few days ago.....was watching old Johnny Carson reruns......and they had Jerry Lee on......and he admitted he did not read music.......that in my book makes his feats even more increadible......LONG LIVE BOTH COUSINS.....

Theres s clip on youtube where mickey gilley says jerry lee started piano playing at 3. He had his own unique way of playing as we see. His parents got a teacher to teach him the proper fingering of the keys and pkaying but they soon gave up. And the rest is history. They all started to learn by watching the older ones , parents etc play and sing. How lovely.

Carl McVoy was cousin to the young Jerry Lee Lewis and brought home the boogie that Jerry came to Carl’s home to listen to and learn. Carl had a recording career before Jerry or Micky. He’s also worth a listen.This family were all talented musically. I love all their music.

Worth watching to the end. Lewis pounds the living daylights out of that piano. Gilley does indeed, hold his own with his vocals. They are also, indeed, cousins...listen to those two sound alike at times.

Nobody can fill their shoes. Just a piano, their voice, a small band, a few microphones, thats all they needed. No scantilly clad back up dancers to distract you from the fact there is no talent on stage, no auto tune, no jumping and dancing around with chains hanging off, just talent.

The piano work is really unique. It's a combination / mix of old time rag shuffle and boogie-woogie. It's what makes it so great. Basically came out of that region.

The guy (Lee) is the most natural piano player I’ve ever seen. Music genuinely takes over him as he plays and he cannot just sit there lol such a badass. Gilley ain’t no slouch either! Too bad G doesn’t play in concert anymore :(

And all 3 use their "Left foot" to use the damper pedal. Right foot to keep time. I've never seem any other piano players do this. It's like using your left foot on a gas pedal!!:-)

@karenking53573 жыл бұрын
@@lenisbennett3062 absolutely... Lol and my first child was also born at Harris Hospital... Dr Sullivan on 8th Ave... 1974... Before my Father became a Christian, He also played Rock n Roll; Country and some R&B... He ran around in those same circles for years... Tom T Hall was rythum guitar player and back-up singer in my Dad's band in Indiana... Jerry Lee and Swaggart were two of my dad's favorites... Dad could play anything but his specialty I suppose was the lead guitar... And could he ever burn up those strings! He also played, harmonica, FIDDLE, (which I loved the most) and several more. When we moved to Texas so Dad could attend the Fundamental Baptist Seminary in Arlington, on Division St, He bought my Mother a beautiful piano.. But then taught himself to ALSO PLAY IT... People like my Dad and JLL, Swaggart and Gilley, are so extraordinarily talented. It's UNBELIEVABLE!! My Dad gave up his dreams of being a BIG STAR, for the Ministry of the Gospel.. for over 40+ years... Preacher's run in the family too! 😇🛐✝️🙏🙌

About 30 years ago saw them both at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson, Ms. Mickey did his show first, then Jerry Lee came out and did his. Then they rolled Mickey's piano out beside Jerry Lee's and they did some songs together. Best concert I've EVER seen! Never seen anybody (except maybe their cousin, Jimmy Swaggart) who could play piano the way these two do! Amazing!
