What’s fascinating about this is that Jerry is trying to rebuild himself with the same tools from life that got him to exactly where he never wanted to be. It translates into his personal life with someone who is trying to love him. He speaks about personal connection, but continues to stretch himself thin. Her breaking up with him after that particular phone call was exactly what he needed to finally start to get it.

@@sabeehbutt543The you complete me scene is good only because of *this* scene, becy we the audience see what a treasure Dorothy is, who owned up to her mistake (“it’s my fault, it’s not fair to you this whole thing”) as she lured Jerry into marrying her when he was in the lowest point of his life, and she tried to right her wrong by setting Jerry free. Dorothy is not the only woman who walked out on Jerry in this movie but if it is Avery(Kelly Preston) Jerry said “You complete me” to it will not even be half as good. If you understand about storytelling than you should realize this is the better scene.

How did it go? Yeah it’s a horrible feeling. I remember this girl I was seeing, we were so into each other and I went on holiday to come back and the vibe was off. She started being flaky with the plans, saying she was ill and couldn’t come out with me that night. Then one day I asked her if we could do something together the day after and got the message of “I think we should go back to being friends”. Hurt like hell, that horrible gut feeling just instantly kicked in. You get over it though, a few years later she now is trying it on with me again, tried to kiss me and I’m long over her. I’ll kiss her back sometimes but now it’s like me just having control of not wanting to pick it back up with her, now I’m the one that fucks her off and she’s chasing after me when I few years ago I dreamed of having that back. Now I just have her as an option but chase after other girls.

Amazing actors in a very solid script. However this scene doesn't make sense. A married women is giving up a great husband who loves her child but believes he only likes her. In this world, "like" is way better than love since people fall out of love very easy. Also she clearly did not have a good Plan B, C or D, so just take Jerry Maguire.

I disagree If someone loves you , it’s not that easy to fall out of love with them. Like is between friends or colleagues but love is between family and spouses

The possibility of finding real, pure love is still there, even if the world doesn't acknowledge it verbally. Always choose the one who loves you, not just tolerates you.

No, it was more " he's just not that into you" and she could see it. She didn't want to waste years of marriage with a guy who didn't seem to be in love with her.

Nope I've been there with 2 of my marriages, my 2nd killed me, she had the affair, it never is enough with women. Watch the betty Broderick movie, Scorned of a woman, me, me, me, it's all about ME. she was convicted for killing he ex husband and and his new wife. Betty Broderick got 35 to life.

Watch the movie again. I don’t think you understand it. It wasn’t about:me/ me/ me…

It's crazy this flick did so well. Neither Cruise nor Zellweger are particularly talented. She's nuts, so fine that's the role. He's a psychopath, but he smolders well. In another world he _is_ a sales guy, successful. Golf club membership, big house, nice car, hot wife. This isn't anything approaching a film like Ronin. De Niro & McElhone had romance. This is sugary wallpaper.

DeNiro is such a putz. I can't watch anything he is in now and not want to laugh at what a joke he is.

Put the Crack pipe down. Cruise is one of the greatest actors who ever lived regardless of his personal life. The man has put in work and this movie is a Masterpiece.
