Tyra was the pioneer for lace front wigs. In the early 2000’s she was the only celeb who’s wigs looked like it was coming out of her scalp (even Beyoncé’s wig game wasn’t as on point as Tyra’s back then). I very confused as to what’s happening.

I think she wore weaves and the front was her hair. And now she wears bad wigs. I could be wrong bit I always thought she used to wear weaves. Like most female black celebs in the day. It looked better on them all tbh. I just don't like the over the top drag queen vibe of wigs and lashes and make up tht has been im since 2010 and beyond seems to get more and more extreme It eats away the beauty of all those women. And ofcourss you have good natural looking ones. But ovrr all its a no for me

I adore them, but that's completely inaccurate. High fashion modeling existed some 40-50 years before them, we just didn't have the amount of media that gave models the kind of ubiquitous coverage that you'd see in later years, making them household names and semm omnipresent. Insofar as the most notable black models who came before and paved the way for them, you might want to take a look at Naomi Sims, Bethann Hardison, Pat Cleveland, Beverly Johnson, and Iman. Even in In the late 1970s Givenchy's house models in Paris consisted of all black women. All of these women are Naomi and Tyra's foremothers, without whom doors could not have been pen for them to stomp on through in the 1990s. Additionally, high fashion modeling has been in place since the 1930s, with Balenciaga leading the charge for luxury fashion showings through the house he began in 1919 as well as Coco Chanel. The iconic Carmel Snow was the chief editor of Harper's Bazaar then, and largely responsible for the advent of supermodels being created for that period, many of the photographed by the legendary Man Ray. Naomi and Tyra were the standard that carried on that tradition of extraordinary beauty, movement and overall excellence in fashion mannequins and were able to bring black faces to the forefront of fashion on a commercial level like never before.
