In this video I go over an easy-to-tie fluke rig and walk you through my light and compact tackle bag set up, filled with all the Fluke essentials. It was a tough weekend of harsh wind and unpredictable weather, but I managed to get on some Fluke and have some fun! Check out the links below to what I'm using this season to maximize success (not sponsored or affiliated).

I've used the same rig you do, but I use a 1/2 s&s bucktail for the weight, and it produces some big fluke on the bottom bucktail. Great video. I live in a seaisle and their are big fluke in the surf out front

Yep the big Fluke are certainly lurking out there, especially as we turn the corner into July and then August! Bucktails on the bottom of this rig are super effective, I agree.

We don't have fluke up here but we do get some nice winter flounder. I use pre tied snell hook rigs with a #4 or 6 long shank hook on 8 pound line and a couple of glow beads. Basically a high-low rig and depending on the current I run from 3/4 ounces of lead all the way up to 5 ounce. And we use night crawlers. I also thread a size 10 dry fly hook on the leader between the beads and the bait hook, that is used to keep the worm from sliding down the main hook. I've landed some 15 and 16 inch flounder on that little stinger hook. Great video!

Love the pared down fluke kit. Most of my freshwater fishing trips can be simplified to fit in a waist pack just like that one, but I never know what I'll get into in saltwater, so I end up taking too much stuff.
@SaltySamFishing

I completely agree, Michael! Saltwater fishing definitely poses a lot of unexpected challenges and catches but, sometimes it is better to be over-prepared than under-prepared, so I feel you on that!

I liked everything I heard, but one thing I question about what I saw here was in the beginning of this video you had to hook, facing down when you’re trolling along the bottom your hook is going to snag the bottom if there’s any rough area, I always think the hook should face up just my opinion
@SaltySamFishing
@SaltySamFishing 22 күн бұрын
Usually the grub is far enough off the bottom that it avoids snags, so it shouldn’t be too much of a worry!

Great video! quick question, would I be able to fit a 32oz water bottle in the water holder on the waist pack?
@SaltySamFishing
@SaltySamFishing 3 күн бұрын
I would say it depends on the bottle. It may be a tight squeeze but likely could, especially if its taller than it is wide. The jar I have in there now is 40oz but is a taller jar. So, I would think 32oz could fit! Sorry that's not a great answer but I hope it helps a little. Thank you for watching!
