The dream "climaxed" with Penelope saying his name again and again--OF COURSE IT WAS COLIN'S DREAM! The actress playing Prudence and the actor playing Lord Debling are a couple. IRL. Yeah Lord Debling would be a very good match for Penn. Almost. Hot air balloons were not brand new, but there were unusual and startling. Evidently next season seems poised to be Benedict's. Maybe. The peerage and gentry of England at this time had always based their great wealth on land. That was still the measure of a "true" gentleman or lady, not being part of trade at all. In Jane Austen's novel PERSUASION the heroine is estranged from the man she loves, and when they meet again each is trying not to feel so much. She finds a very eligible match who likes her very much. She still chooses her first love in the end but the point is she did have choices. I think Penelope and Lord Debling remind me of those two. In other others, not all Regency men in this show are idiots who fail to see how beautiful, clever, brave, and good Penn is. Here's the heart of Colin--he wants to be loved, longs for it, craves it. He in his heart of hearts doesn't believe anyone can love him. Even his family loves him only because he's kin. That is how he feels, deep down. So he never noticed his best friend was in love with him. Once he realized he loved her, poor guy was terrified. Because at most all he could bring himself to believe is that she would find him acceptable, even though he absolutely adores her, wants her, longs to be close to her emotionally as well as physically. Hence he will (at first) seek desperately to "prove" himself to her.

Just binged all your Bridgerton S3 Part 1 vids! You are so much fun! I prefer single episode reactions but this works too! Just glad you consistently react to full length episodes so I'm not picky! Some reactors do full length ep reactions to SOME episodes and then only reacted to select/popular scenes from eps 2 and 3 (like the first kiss and dream sequence) and I'm like...why not just be consistent and do ALL 4 full length episode reactions? Can't wait to watch Part 2 but I have to wait for my besties to do a watch party with me - so agonizing to wait.
