I raced many years ago in the seventies, B gas Roadster at Island Dragway in New Jersey and met the famous Don Garlits. I took my family there decades later after leaving the US Army as a rookie cop and they were nearly literally blown away. My sons loved it and It’s still a great sport.

I took my 3 sons 14 years in a row on the Friday, Labor Day weekend…( they ran at nite ) they priced us right out of it ….

If you break down the value of entertainment you get with NHRA, it sure is cheaper and more entertaining than any other sport out there. Motorsports are expensive and NHRA could be doing more to fill those empty seats but over all still one of the best values in all sports. I would not trade my NHRA ticket for any other sport.

Welcome to the club, indeed. Indy is still on my bucket list. Labor day weekend, is the spot. Covid kind of effed everything. You have to go to the WrestleMania of drag racing before you die. The U.S. Nationals!! Glad you enjoyed it Jess!

It was a small street car event and this team happened to be there from overseas (Sweden IIRC) to do some testing.

Haha yes indeed. This was a small event. We didn't expect a top fuel car. Some team from Sweden was there testing.

Back in the day we could stand right along the gard rail at the start line, watching 2 top fuels leave used to vibrate your skeleton. Not anymore.

@@rctd3260 The drawback with standing too close like in the day is Now some engines are putting out 11,000 + bhp, bad news if a rod let's go & you're 'right there'.

Might have been the devices microphone but it definitely sounded off...whoever took her there should have made her wear protection...she won't enjoy hearing aids!

I put in the description it was just a small event and they were there for testing. When nationals are here it's crazy packed.

@@ronaldgillette2356 nope, it was a Top Fuel. A/fuel use Nitro but can't run a supercharger.

two cylinders went out on the right side. If you look close at 1:54 you can see excess fuel dump.

You are not a "friend" to any unaware person you take to a nitro meet unless you insist they were ear protection. After the first run, it is their decision.

What other rail car runs on Nitro....We talked with them briefly. It's actually a top fuel team from Sweden that was doing testing here for whatever reason.
