Did you hear? Jessama Design's Etsy shop is now selling silkscreens. All designs are hand drawn. This is the tutorial I promised, showing you how to create easy faux abalone. I go for a more green, blue effect in this project, but feel free to play around with a bunch of different colors.
Supplies:
Silkscreens: jessamadesign.etsy.com/listin...
Donut cutter: jessamadesign.etsy.com/listin...
Pebble cutter: jessamadesign.etsy.com/listin...

This is such a fantastic technique. You seem to do a lot of faux stones, but this could be used for a dichroic glass effect.

I love all your videos and this one is no exception. You did a fabulous job on your pieces. However attaching your earring backs with resin is a mistake. The resin just sits on the surface of the clay. So after wearing your earrings a few time, the backs will loosen and pull off. The only way to ensure the backs will be secure is to embed them. Also makes the backs look more professional. 🥰❤️❤️❤️

Wouldn’t you then have to bake them upside down? Would that affect the look of the side with all the color? Thank you!

Beautiful work! I see that you applied Renaissance wax to the sides. Does this keep the gold pen from turning sticky down the road?

Gorgeous❣️. Your silk screens are fantastic as well! I haven’t yet been able to handle the UV resin that you used on the back of the earrings. It always seems to leak on the sides and end up on the other side of the project. How Cani avoid that from happening? Thankyoumuch!

Hi Samantha, this is such a lovely tutorial. I've tried it and I'm quite happy with my result except for the sanding.I only only used cernit clay and I used the thinnest setting on my pasta machine for my translucent cernit part. I decided to sand the whole piece starting with 600, 800 then 1000 before polishing it. However, the translucent side is still a bit cloudy...what could cause this? overbaked (baked at 30mns at 130)? or not having sanded enough? or should I have started with a sanding paper lower than 600? Thank you in advance for your reply as it would be a great help for future project using translucent clay. I look forward to watching more great videos!

Beautiful. ** QUESTION: IS A SILK SCREEN SAME AS A STENCIL??? *** Thx for video. Austin,TX USA
@JessamaTutorials
@JessamaTutorials 2 жыл бұрын
No. A stencil is a plastic sheet with shapes cut out of it, while a stencil is quite flexible and is almost like a sheet of fabric. Stencils allow you to use things like clay, crackle paste and just about anything with them. This is due to their large open pattern and the ability to clean them easily. Silkscreens are more delicate and only allow a number of things to be used with them such as paint and powders. However, they give much more detailed patterns. Both are very useful and can be used in different situations.
