Hey girl, I just wrapped up Love is Blind Japan! And girl...Japan is the actual blueprint for the show. However, the episodes are LONG and they focus on all of the couples for long periods. Those couples were extremely intentional about their choices. And they even took the time to show them at work. Because Japan wasn't about unnecessary drama the episodes seemed to be boring to me who is used to all the drama. But overall I enjoyed each couple's effort in finding out if they are really a match. It also opened my eyes to how toxic the American media is because they are all about drama and sex.

Mixed chick checking in (black/white) and let me say, I’ve definitely experienced (consistently) when I dated black men, the goal was to make me less black (but also trying to make me insecure for being half white). Example I have extremely kinky/curly hair and I most definitely get braids throughout the year. One guy I was dating told me I’m too “light skinned and it makes me look ghetto”. In the same day he also said “you want to be white so bad” because I had mentioned I loved Paramore. All that to say. I’m not shocked that Raven (as light skinned as she is) was not what he wanted. I feel like Jessica from Season 1 of Love is Blind was done wrong a bit. First off, Mark wasn’t the innocent dude he was portrayed as during the season. He was def a fuckboy and because everyone thought he was sincere and was so in love with Jessica it made her look much worse. Jessica def was wrong for flirting with Barnett after the engagement but a lot of alcohol was involved and also the producers pressured her into continuing the show with Mark even though she said early on she wasn’t into him. I also feel the edit was harsh for Jessica. Jessica came out on the top tho. Bagged her a handsome, tall doctor and a baby and everything.

A hilarious and insightful video once again, Jess, thank you!! Something I'd like to add about that Lovers and Friends podcast and the Raven episode. Shan typically does a 3rd segment of the show where she invites either her family, or some other guest to reflect on her interview. For this episode, Shan invited a therapist who is a friend of the show to give some feedback, and apparently, Raven's team saw the segment and requested that it be omitted. Which leads me to believe that this therapist probably said, "RAVEN, YOU IN DANGER GIRL" in the way people with 3 degrees and 12 years of school usually do hahaha. Her team probably saw it and decided this isn't a good look. All in all, I think you're spot on. From what we've seen, there appears to be a pattern of men building her up just to put her down, and for some reason, she thinks it's love.

i feel like Raven also suffers delusions of grandeur that members of what i call the crystal coochie posse suffer from. the girlies who consider themselves to be very spiritually connected can sometimes be the most rocks for brains ppl there are. they gaslight themselves with what they want to happen and say things like “i just feel so connected to you” or “this was meant to happen”. they quite literally believe they can make anything work for them because the universe sent it. and i’m really not saying this to bash anyone’s spirituality but i have seen it happen often with some of my close friends. the flags be all there but because they are so convinced the universe or the higher power told them this is their man they ignore it

I hope this does not offend anyone, but I honestly think Raven is nuerodivergent. She comes off cold & stubborn, but is a really sensitive and a person that favors stability & comfort. Neurodivergent ppl are often considered immature and insecure by others but they are really playful/young in spirit or unsure of how to properly interact or move in soceity- which manifests as insecurity. Studies have also shown that majority of nuerodivergent women end up in toxic relationships or w/ narcissistic men. I don't know for sure, but it's how I perceive it. She could also be dealing w/ ALOT of trauma. Either way, she needs therapy & Jesus. Her life's safety depends on it.
