Ooooh nice. You can see the improvement by each level you go through, from a clearly good start to something gorgeous (those almost 3d effects of the black-white squares in the last one had me like *ground level jaw drop*)! Nautilus is clearly the one I prefer on a personal level, the notion of imprisonment was a sort of slap in my face, because of how shy I am, I just don't really do anything on my own in fear I totally screw up, and even more so when it comes to people, so I guess social isolation (or however that's called) could be a sort of imprisonment, in some weird way. Tl;dr I relate to Nautilus af dunno why exactly but I do. Anyway, now, my real favorite is definitely, without a doubt, Jestar, it feels so sudden with how loose the continuity seems between each levels, to know there was a mastermind of sort behind all of it, and the souls, what are they exactly? We're getting a full story in a rhythm game and that's something very rare (no offence JSAB fans, I love the game too, but I meant fan-made stuff, not cannon stuff) I think. And the quality is top notch in this last level! The static effect seems to add to the 3d-like illusion some shapes gain, sometimes because of the way they move or simply because of their design (the face in Total Destruction is a perfect example of the moving 3d illusion, the way it moved, I just had the feeling like it was more a 3d model than a 2d circle). Also, I really like how Jestar acts, the way he (assuming Jestar is a guy) seems to chuckle at some parts, or how he moves, he looks very impatient but willing to plan and wait for the right moment nonetheless, not wanting to waste efforts on useless things. He clearly knows we have the souls he is after, and is seriously getting fed up with how often we have escaped, so he decided to pay us a visit after he finally got one soul, feeling ready to confront us. How does he knows all this stuff tho? What is his plan? Why Jestar wants to destroy the world? And his emotions problem makes me think back to Flowey in Undertale, Flowey didn't feel any positive emotions, but could clearly feel negative ones like fear, confusion, anger and sadness, and I think that Jestar might be emotionless in a similar way to Flowey, but why, meh. Making a U turn back to the movements, he seems like someone how prefers fighting from semi-long/long ranged attacks instead of melee, which is technically different then other bosses, heck even Nautilus who looks a bajilion times less powerful than Jestar looks more threatening in melee in the First crush level lol. As a plus, it seems like he prefers attacks covering a large zone, if there was a multiplayer option, I could see him being quite deadly, especially against groups of inexperienced players, quickly swiping the field clear of them and possibly causing more then a few rage quits. But a plus for the players, is that many of his large area attacks move more slowly (the lines of squares, the feather attack when he has his wings out, etc.), so people who can keep calm against the ongoing bullet hell will surely manage to slip through most of his phases with ease. He also gives quite a few moments to breath and calm down when he monologues about how he's going to destroy the world. What I'm getting at, is that Jestar seems to have a lot of potential, I sure hope to see more of him soon. Also sorry for the lengthy comment, but I'm tired and my brain always seem to overwork when I'm tired, so guess what, we end up with these abominations. Sorry not sorry for being all over the place (kinda lol)
