Both of these gentlemen get you way better than me, and I agree with them under the assumption I understood what they said. I know maybe that sounds dumb but who knows maybe they said things that turn everyone else can't stand. The downside is I wish you were not gay and would *&^% me until my mind went numb with pleasure. Sorry I just remember you swinging that axe and how impressed I was. I'm only turning 60 and last time I checked I don't think my two children have grandkids yet.

I totally agree. No snark or bitterness, she even made a point to say her experience was just her experience, and others can have a positive experience in church. And the authenticity of noting how social media only shows a sliver of someone, and how she has plenty of struggles makes her more likable than most other supposed "influencers".

As a grandfather, I can only imagine (and i am positive that i fall short by several orders of magnitude) the pain and grief you feel. But you have given one of the greatest gifts of advise. So much is expected of our children when they somehow, miraculously, reach that magical age of 18 and are instantly expected to act and live as though they have garnered a lifetime of knowledge and experience. Many of us need (much) more time to come to understand what being an adult means, to figure out who and what we are, to realize that we are entitled to have and express ideas and opinions.

Self acceptance is difficult. Coming out to yourself first is a real struggle. It's kind of something that isn't really shown well in queer representation. That "coming out" isn't a one time thing, you don't usually just "come out" once, but for a long while, you have to keep coming out, over and over. Glad you found yourself

My daughter is 16 now, came out to me over text when she was 12 after struggling to do so for 3 years. I cried like a baby because I felt like I'd messed up so badly by not giving her a safe enough place to do so. She said it wasn't that, and begged me not to change or treat her differently. We aren't as close as we used to be (teenagers), but I like to think we've still got each other's backs when it counts.

@@constantinople777christens5 - heh, right. If a kid is sure of their sexuality at 12, someone has gotten to them and made them think they are sure of it themselves. That parents are so ridiculous that they are letting their preteens declare in seriousness their sexuality, and even that they want it changed via chemicals or even surgeory, and expect you to start calling them weird new gender terms some groomers have confused them with is bizzare though. I mean, guy showed it really, he cried when his daughter said something he should have been concerned about, and actually wishes he could of known and helped her be confused and encourage her to find echo chambers of indoctrination sooner. we are seeing a generation of men and girls raised by bitter single feminist mothers and their grandparents attempting to be parents themselves and mostly they seem more concerned with trying to be their friends and often just end up crying into their bottles of Adderall on the regular to cope. Our cultures are breaking to the point our boys hardly even want to bang and thus have a negative replacement ratio. We have become so sensitive and miserable that we barely even want to breed and the option for boys to throw in the towel and declare themselves to be broken girls to try and switch to playing life on easy mode is crippling. Its we either die out from being pathetic, or inject a culture of men that remember where they are supposed to put it, along with all the disdain and hate for the cowardly men they have to replace too. The boycotts and stories of students actually rejecting this rainbow weakness glorification are encouraging but damn have we let it get far, its gonna take a lot to shift us back into something resembling a respectable society if its even possible. All this stuff only works in decadence though, if we hit a depression or some kind of big disaster, all this stuff will just be a weird period to be studied by future philosophers. The slow boil of wokeness though can destroy civilizations, I hope we can turn it around without some kind of major shock to us all, we just have to remember it doesn't automatically make someone bad for saying No to a gropu and their bad ideas, that not everyone capable of being loud should heard and catered to.

As a trans woman who grew up in the catholic church, I relate so hard to your story. While I was still figuring out who the heck I was and what it meant, I learned that I needed to adapt and fit into what the church wanted me to be so I would be safe. This was only reinforced at various church camps where someone was outed as bi and became ostracized. I ended up becoming your typical church teen who, like you, went to alot of Jesus camps and took up roles within the church. I committed so hard to Jesus that I sorta became known as "Jesus kid" as my local high school. It wasn't until I was 18 that I began extensively questioning the church and what I had been taught. Of course, the church didn't take to kindly to that and they either answered my questions with "trust god" or "stop asking questions" It took almost 3 years of continued questioning and denial from the church before I woke up one sunday and realized that I had to leave the church. So when my papa came to my room and asked me to get ready for church, I looked him in the eye and said I'm not going. My papa just looked back at me for a bit before shrugging and going "ok." And while my journey to figuring out who I am has been slow and steady, I'm glad that its led me to who I am today. And I'm glad you were able to find your path. And I hope you continue to forge ahead on the path you wish to create.

I’m sorry you had this experience with the church. I think there are many catholics who don’t really understand what the church intends to teach and, unfortunately, ostracize people for many different reasons. The term “catholic” means “universal” and “open to all”. I hope you find your way back to the church, and I hope the church is there for you when you do. In any case, I believe God is certainly there for you.

Thank you for making this video, Nicole. I think it's going to help a lot of people, no matter how they identify. Thanks for being so candid and open -- I relate to the negative experience with religion but also find the outdoors are my happy space too. I'm in my mid fifties and just finally tackling the negativity of evangelical religion in my past and now, how I think of myself. Finding a new place for positive spiritualism by taking part in Indigenous healing circles and smudges. I know I'm not alone in appreciating your strength and honesty!

As a Roman Catholic father, about to leave for Sunday Mass, I’m sad to hear of your experience. If my children are gay, straight or anything else I’d be very happy as long as they are. In fact my primary goal in life is to help them remain healthy and happy, whether they follow my choice of faith or not. I’d be really upset if the church which I’m part of judged my children poorly. I trust you will have heard in your own experience of the church, that such attitudes aren’t the teachings of Christ, in fact the opposite.

Hi@@Jane-oz7pp. Rightio, your naming Paul has sent me down the rabbit hole of possibilities. Pope Paul? Which one? Saint Paul? So using a search engine to find out if a Pope, of any name, was homophobic is like shooting fish in a barrel. Far too many options/ suspects. Just like Putin many men have hidden their own repressed sexuality behind malicious negativity towards gays. Such ‘Them v Us’ politics of difference isn’t just the practice of politicians unfortunately. So without delving into that ‘differences’ quagmire I looked at Saint Saul/ Paul, who I had forgotten was not an original apostle. He joined a number of years after the crucifixion and was a persecutor of early Christians, before his own conversion. Like many Apostles Paul warned against ‘sins of the flesh’, inc. alcohol, wealth, power, sex… But uniquely he made statements against “sodomites”, often mistaken for referring to all gay men (for gay women weren’t considered to exist - for comedy value pls. look up Queen Victoria’s total rejection to the concept of lesbianism as a real thing). True, Paul considered homosexual acts not to be in line with the biblical plan for man, but that was his ‘soft’ view. His harder (written) views were against people keeping the likes of young male servants for gay sex. Those are his chosen targets in the damming of “sodomites”. Aside from that I’m unable to respond further, unless you can inform me more on the correct Paul, and his actions please? For the avoidance of doubt in my opinion we need our openly LGBQT+ brothers and sisters IN the church. Love is love, and for all our sakes we need to nurture/ encourage that love within our bigger family.

There's this thing called the Bible that's the only reason your faith has a basis. It condemns unrepentant homosexuality (as well unrepentant hetero adultery, fornication; drunkenness, idolatry, slothfulness, greed, gluttony, murder, hate, envy, jealousy, liars, etc). It's clear as crystal.
@teller1290

@@Jane-oz7ppnice try but he was accepted and respected by the rest of the Lord Jesus' apostles. He was so effective in addressing Jewish religious authority (because he had been one of them, the prized pupil of the highest member of the Sanhedrin, Gamaliel) and also in exposing the false gods of Rome and Greece that he spent much of his amazing ministry fleeing for his life, finally being Ng murdered by Rome who feared his teaching in their bloody, immoral empire. Show some respect. Hijacked the church? His letters (epistles) to the fledgling and besieged Christian churches in the eastern Mediterranean are now the basis of New Testament doctrine. As for Catholics, St. Peter himself admonished his listeners to listen to Paul, despite the fact "that his teachings are hard."
