@FLDavis Please carefully ponder the rendering of Philippians 2:6 in the English Standard Version: 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped . In similar vein, the NIV puts that verse this way: Christ Jesus “did not consider equality with God.” Be reminded that the theme of Philippians 5 is the exemplary humility of Christ Jesus. The writer of Philippians, the apostle Paul, is, in effect, urging us as followers of the Christ to emulate the example he set in humility: Even though he was “ in the form of God”, he “emptied himself” of all the glory he had in heaven and stripped off the spirit nature he had and took “ the form of a servant ” by allowing his life to be transferred to our earthly, material, human plane, thereby becoming “a little less than angels” and submitting in the end, to an agonising and humiliating death - and all that he did for one reason: to sanctify his Father’s name! So, our Lord’s humility is to be seen in the fact that HE DID NOT SEEK EQUALITY WITH HIS GOD: “He did not count equality with God “a thing to be grasped”, even though he was in God’s form.
