Das müsste Morgan Turner sein, er spielt seit Jahren in der John P. Kee Band und ist natürlich auch in vielen anderen (Gospel-) Projekten vertreten. Einer meiner Lieblingsbassisten.

Thanks Maurycy - I would assume that this kind of tone is mostly based on ash body/maple neck instruments. Combined with boosting the low and hi end you'll get the common mid scooped / gospel / marcus miller like tone. Installing high quality pickups can help but i heard this kind of tone even on very inexpensive basses like sire :-)

I would suggest the jb71 pair, because it would be more authentic in the Marcus Miller Model. But i was always impressed by the stock Pickups of the Fender MM Model, so maybe you dont expect too much from the upgrade... maybe the difference is not that much of a thing compared to the american made stock pickups.

Hi Hunter, for my home recording stuff i go straight into a outboard pre-amp (Low and Hi Boost) plus compressor and after that directly to the Di-Box. No Amp in this case.

Thx Trevor, these Kloppmann Pickups are great but really expensive and may be the perfect choice if you want to go full authentic vintage. The EMGs are way cheaper and i prefer them for Marcus Miller like sounds with strong lows and crispy high with the subjective feeling of a slightly compressed overall sound. Even though i have to admit that the stock fender pickups in the american professional series are very good, for the future i wouldnt replace them with such boutique priced pu's like the Kloppmanns. These i will save for old vintage basses that need a new pu with the 100% authentic vibe.
