Today we continue our new series all about Jesus! We’re learning about the important events that occurred during the week of Jesus‘s death and resurrection. Over the last few weeks we’ve been learning about the kings of Israel; we learned about king David who had a heart for God, king Solomon who had a divided heart , and king Ahab who was evil! But today we’ll focus on the king of all kings! The one who is above all other kings… Jesus! Jesus will be a king like no other king before him, and he would be greater than anyone else. You see, Jesus‘ kingdom is not of this earth. Thus Jesus doesn’t behave in a way that we might expect an earthly king to behave. Jesus was humble and loving, and he came to serve others, rather than to be served.
The ultimate act of love and humility would come from Jesus, when he would lay down his life on the cross.. In preparation for this, Jesus headed out to the garden of Gethsemane where he would pray. He was overwhelmed with Sorrow as he cried out to God. But he didn’t pray in the way that most of us pray. He prayed in the most extraordinary way! Join us today as we learn about Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane!
