@@benjaminpease5297 I think that's a very hard thing to argue. Very few experts and scholars even agree as to which gospel sayings and accounts were historical. What can he known clearly of the historical Jesus is very little, tbh. It seems prima facie unlikely that a 1st C highly religious Jew would be affirming of gay relationships, and it also seems Jesus wouldn't be affirming in light of the early church's opinions on homosexuality. Therefore the burden id on those who hold that Jesus affirmed gay relationships and its a burden that can't really be met successfully, imho. There's just not enough historically sure material to go on.

I understand your concern but I would suggest watching the video to see the evidence that he was gay. We don’t ever just use our opinions on this show. Our writers do a fantastic job at sticking to the facts and gathering evidence. If we didn’t have evidence, I completely understand that we shouldn’t make such a claim.

Actually its because when christians tried to convert a lot of pegan people instead of just over throwing the religions completely they kind of integrated christianity into them. Like they tried to just be like "oh yeah all these things you believe and celebrate? They're christian actually." And Christmas in particular came from several different pegan holidays that happened around the winter solstice that involved doing things like burning a yule log, making treats, giving gits, and decorating trees (which the bible specifically recognizes is a pegan thing btw and even says to beware those who decorate trees with silver and gold) and injected christianity into it to make converting them easier. This also applies to a lot of other hollidays like Easter when pegans would burry eggs and celebrate rabbits as symbols of rebirth sense its spring and life is coming back. And Christians were like "oh your celebrating rebirth? well you know Jesus was reborn." Fun fact Christmas was also considered a controversial and unruly holiday for years and originally was just a big party to get drunk and have fun. Kind of like how we celebrate new years now. It was even banned in several countries for a long time. We actually get the positive family focused version of Christmas we have today from the book The Christmas Carol from 1842. It became very popular and showed a more positive view of the holiday and brought it back into the main stream where its been ever sense.
