Cornerstone Fellowship with Pastor Allen Nolan

Күн бұрын

Pastor Allen Nolan explores the controversial belief that Jesus died on the cross and was then in Hell for 3 days and 3 nights to pay for our sins. Using his understanding of the mosaic sacrificial system, Pastor Allen Nolan explains the validity of this belief and explains why it is biblical to believe that Jesus paid for our sins not just on the cross, but in Hell as well. The first sermon comes from Pastor Allen's verse by verse study through Isaiah 53, the second is called "3 Days and 3 Nights." Both were originally preached and recorded in 2022.

This teaching in particular is being a blessing.* *Only one thing I need you to dissect for me. If the "spirit" and the "soul" are two different things, what's the use of the spirit according to the Bible as to mention that the Word can cut between and separate them? -I have struggled with this since 2007* *Thank you again!*

@@principleswise9749 Please forgive me but I had to ready your question a few times to understand what I was reading. But I think I get what you are saying. Ok, please forgive, I had to read what you type again. I understand you are asking about the Spirit and the Soul? Well, from my understanding, the Spirit is from GOD. The soul that is our consciousness, which tells us that we are real and here. The body is the material from where we came from and what we were created from. The earth. To me, Pastor Nolan explained it perfectly. GOD bless you.

Every time he talks about his grandmother, how she was in the living room and how she stunk, I feel so sad for her, it looks like she was bed ridden, but nobody took care of her. I disagree. When the pastor said she stank, it was because she used a substance called snuff. Which is like tobacco that is chewed or inhaled. Quite smelly. She also was in the living room so she could be around family comfortably. She was able to interact and be social. If she was not cared for, she would have been tucked away in a bedroom and forgotten because she was incapacitated. People looked after their own in those days because you were family and that’s the way it was.

It takes a lot of adding to what scripture is saying. I am not buying it. Jesus went to the land of the dead yes but hell can not hurt him. Separation from God was worse than any physical pain anyone can feel. It is why he cried out on teh cross about being forsaken. God had to ignore him this time. Remove his comfort. On earth Jesus had no more power than any other human. He called on the father and angels just as we do and used the power of the Holy Spirit. He suffered on the cross and did a work in the land of the dead it tells us.

I’m sure God knows everything that goes on in hell but according to people who have died and went to hell and came back say that there is nothing but torment and dread. And misery and darkness and zero hope. And absolutely no Godly presence there at all because hell is cut off from God but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t know what’s going on there
@aaronwalcott513
@aaronwalcott513 2 ай бұрын
Actually, we are to take God's revelation rather than man's explanation. God knows everything that goes on everywhere, including hell. God's wrath and judgment exist in hell. His presence is there, but not His positive attributes. No rest. No light. No communion. No "good thing" exists in hell, only the terrible things.

@@yaddystanley5980 * I'll have to disagree with you. Sheol/Hades/Hell are located in the lower parts of the earth, as the Bible mentions numerous times. Abraham's bosom, aka as Paradise was located within sight and sound of this place of torment, Luke 16:22--23. How to you explain Eph. 4:8--10 that describes Jesus Christ leading the captives to freedom? How to you explain Jesus telling Mary Magdalene not to touch, or to cling to Him because He had not yet ascended to the Father after His Resurrection, John 20:17? Where was He located between His death and His Resurrection? He wasn't in Heaven. If Paradise was locked within the center part of the earth along side Sheol, prior to Jesus Christ's Crucifixion, then Jesus correctly stated to the thief on the cross that today he would be with Him in Paradise, Luke 23:43, and upon His Resurrection He would take everyone in Paradise up to Heaven when He ascended. Compare this to when Paul was taken up to Paradise, 2 Cor. 12:4. This occurred after Jesus had ascended, so Paradise is now in Heaven.

When Jesus said on the cross "it is finished" that is very clear that the sacrifice had been paid for sin. When He descended it was to bring out those who prior to crucifixion could not enter heaven, now that the price was paid, He went there to deliver them. * I don't believe I explained myself very well. The place that the unsaved go to upon their death is called Hell in the English language, it's called Sheol in the Hebrew language, and Hades in the Greek language. Prior to the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, this place had two compartments: Paradise and Sheol, etc. When Jesus Christ was resurrected He took Paradise with Him to Heaven, and that is where it is today. Sheol/ Hades/ Hell are still where it has always been, and will remain there until it is thrown into the Lake of Fire, read Rev. 20:14, at the Great White Throne Judgement. By the way, Tartarus is located in the lowest part of Sheol, and is reserved for demons and the fallen angels, 2 Peter 2:4. This place is also known as the Abyss, or the Bottomless Pit. Hope this will help you.

How did He suffer in hell? Did all the dead and demons on that side of sheol beat Him and spit on Him, rip parts of his beard out, flog him until he was unrecognizable, and then crucify Him all over again? What do you mean by suffer? I believe He went to the paradise side of sheol (Abraham's Bosom) and preached the Gospel to all who we're waiting for Him, just like He told the robber on the cross next to Him, that He would be with Him in paradise (Abraham's Bosom) !

There is much disagreement about this, I have heard sermons on both positions with scripture such as Ephesians 4:9 used to support it and Luke 23:43 to dispute. It's always made sense to me that Jesus was in hell, Psalm 16:10 doesn't leave room for doubt in my case, especially in concert with Acts 2:24-29 but I have chosen not to discuss it for the most part because of the acrimony that often results, believing that it is not essential to our salvation.

Jesus, Gentiles, Christians (52, 1524) A gentile does not die, never having been alive so as to die. One who has believed in truth is alive, but this person is at risk of dying just by being alive. Since Christ came, the world has been created, cities have been beautified, and the dead have been buried. When we were Hebrews we were orphans, with only a mother, but when we became Christians we had a father and a mother.

I get the parallels. All the law was a foreshadowing of the travails of Jesus and Jesus alone. BUT, the fires of hell are *not* purifying fires. Those are 'everlasting fires' i.e. the fires of God's Judgment, and God's judgment was poured out on Jesus on the Cross. Jesus Himself said He came to fulfill the Law and on the Cross, He said "it is finished." Either it was finished, or it wasn't. The scripture says he went down into hell to "preach deliverance to the captives," not to travail to appease the wrath of God. It seems unlikely He would be able to preach while consumed with the torture you ascribe to the burnt offering, let alone *preach deliverance* when confined by judgment.

All of Jesus's parables were two fold. They were spoken to conceal the Truth from those who rejected Christ's teachings, while at the same time had a spiritual meaning to those who believed. Jesus also explained the meaning of His parables after saying them. He also never named anyone specifically in His parables. But rather gave comparisons. The story of the rich man and Lazarus has no comparison as all the other parables nor was it spoken to conceal the truth from unbelievers. It was able to be understood by both an unbeliever and a believer as a literal story. To name Lazarus in this story signifies that God has helped Lazarus find rest in Abraham's bosom alongside Abraham who is also named and responds to the rich man in this story. The reason the rich man has no name is because his name is blotted out of the book of life and therefore never to be remembered. All the condemned who die without Christ are not only casted into everlasting torment, but are also blotted out and forgotten. This story is hope to those who believe in Christ as the Messiah and a fearful reality check for those who reject Jesus Christ. Therefore it cannot be counted as a parable.

IT WAS FINISHED ON THE CROSS! He said father I commend my spirt. Don't take away the atonement. The Bible does not say he went to hell to pay for anybodys sin. He descended into hell to lead captivity captive! There was a huge gulf dividing the burning side from the paradise side. Before the dispensation of grace, you weren't born again. You believed, they were called those of that way. They went to paradise when they died. God went down to take them back with him. He emptied that side out. I can not believe this teacher is teaching that our Lord Jesus Christ actually burned in hell in front of Abraham and those whom believed and those who did not and were burning. THERE IS NO SCRIPTURE TO PROVE THAT JESUS BURNED!!! A great study is what our Lord Jesus Christ did suffer on the cross. He took all mankind's sin and became sin for us. Praise his Holy Name.

So let's see, if we count Friday as a day and Friday night as a night; then we add Saturday and Saturday night we get a total of two days and two nights - - - not three days and three nights! @charlessmith4242 No need to. The word of God is clear about the atonement and substituionary death of Christ. Jesus decended into the lower parts the grave/ paradise side and ascended with the righteous believers. Now, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. His physical death on the cross was the price for our sins. He rose from the dead on the third day, conquering death and the grave.
@charlessmith4242
@charlessmith4242 2 ай бұрын
@@jecs2123 * Christ's physical death represented the fulfillment of the sin offering that He purchased for all humanity. That's why He said " it is finished ", or better that it is paid in full. But, Jesus still bore all the sins of the world. I believe that is why He said " Father why have you forsaken me " ( Matt. 27:46, Mark 15:34 ). At that moment He had taken on all the sins of the world, 2 Cor. 5:21, and then His soul went to Hades/Sheol/Hell. Satan thought he had defeated God, but then Jesus took the keys of Hell, and went to Paradise where He then took Paradise with Him when He was resurrected. Hell could not hold Him because He was the only perfect, sinless, unblemished, sin offering that could completely satisfy the debt that sin demanded. Without His resurrection, He would of been just another sin offering. He needed to be resurrected so that He could pour His blood upon the Mercy Seat in Heaven, thus reestablishing His relationship with God the Father. Remember, God had forsaken Jesus when He was on the cross weighed down with the sins of the world. Read Acts 13:30--39, especially verse 33. At His resurrection is where Jesus became the Son of God for ever more. Christ's Resurrection is what gives every believer the hope of eternal life in Heaven with Jesus. Christ's sacrifice on the cross paid our sin debt. Christ's Resurrection, and the Saints He took with Him from Paradise, guarantees our eternal home will be with Him in Heaven.
