Psalm 44(45): 11-12
Habakkum beheld thee as an overshadowed mountain, for thou art covered with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Apolytikion of the Dormition
Neither tomb nor death overpowered the Mother of God, unsleeping in her prayers, unfailing hope in intercession;
for as Mother of Life she has been taken over into life
by Him who dwells in her ever-virgin womb.
Kontakion of the Dormition
O, the wonder of it! She who supernaturally received the infinitely great God, to whom all limit is foreign, into the small space of her womb, today is borne on the small space of a bier, tended by holy hands. She who enthroned in her bosom the One who rides on the backs of Cherubim is laid in the bosom of a tomb carved from the rock. She at whose Child the angels sang in wonder, today is sent on her way in her earthly tabernacle, accompanied by the solemn chorus of the apostles.
