This was a great flight to Charleston with my daughter and long-time flying buddy. She asked some great questions about why we moved to the HondaJet and also how it was different from the planes we've previously flown together.

Loved the flight and it's great to see your daughter asking so many questions. My 37 year old would be the same way about flying if I were able to fly again. The only flying I do now is my flight sim and the Honda Jet on it. I'm really loving the Honda in the flight sim. They just recently upgraded it to the Elite 2 and man do I love that. Auto throttle is awesome. Set it to FMS and it will follow all flight and speed restrictions all by itself. I've already got over 600 hours in it since I'm confined to a wheelchair nowadays and I get to spend all day everyday flying the sim. I've got my "cockpit" set up with two touch screen monitors for the GTC's and PFD/Mfd's. Following you on your flights and watching you go through everything has helped my "flying". Just subscribed and will go back and watch all of your other flying videos. Thank you sir for the content.

What an awesome comment. I grew up as a military kid and I lived there for college in the 80s. So it's been my only real home. I worked washing dishes in Charleston Restaurants in the summers and met my wife there when she was in waitressing for a summer. We ate on the rooftop at The Restoration - we were a little late in the day for some of my other favorites but it was a chilly day and the sun was perfect. Congrats on the flying. Pursuing ratings in MN is no joke!

If you get a used Garmin Ultra 30 camera, it will take panel audio via bluetooth AND it will record microphone/ambient sound as well. The trick setting is to split bluetooth on right channel and Mic/Ambient on left channel. You then level the volumes and recombine in your post process (eg Davinci Resolve).

Hey Blue Max, I don't know why, but I'm fascinated with these little Honda Jets. I've been watching YT vids on these aircraft a lot lately . I shared an office in The Chicago Board of Trade with the late Steve Fossett, world record setter in many things. I flew a few times on his Citation X and it literally blew my mind. No one I know has a Honda Jet, so I've yet to fly on one, but they're really cool little aircraft. Your channel popped up in my suggested column this morning, so I'm subbing. I'll be catching up on your vids in the coming weeks. Until then, thanks so much for the uploads. Safe flying to you and yours. PS I used to fly from an Aero community in the western Chi burbs down to Meigs Field very often for work. Then the esteemed Richard Daley had Huge X's dug out of all the runways in the middle of the night and that was the end of Meigs. LOL, that's how they do things in Chicago. (not my aircraft, but friends I worked with)
@bluemaxsix
@bluemaxsix Жыл бұрын
Great story! I remember watching the whole Meigs Field thing go down. A real shame. Time proved even more what a poor decision that was. I'm so glad our channel was suggested to you, it's early days but I'm committed to sticking with it. Flying the HJ has been a real blast - so different than anything I've flown before. I look forward to hearing more of your thoughts on some of the other videos.

This is definitely different (for me anyway). A few years back I did some investigation to try and determine what aircraft registration I would want if I were to somehow become able to purchase one. The number I chose was 682TM. Tango Mike should be relatively obvious when you look at my initials. 682 is bit more obscure… Back in the mid 70’s, the first submarine I qualified on was the USS Tunny (SSN-682). I thought it’s a number I would never fumble over when trying to use the radio. BTW, the Tunny was homeported in Charleston back then. I know the Cooper well, and pier November in particular. Actually, the Tunny had a reunion in Charleston a few years back, but the timing didn’t work out for me to go. So, did you attend The Citadel?

Thanks for sharing - what a great story. I think any of us who look at aviation with a romantic nod to the past and an appreciation for the tech advances of the future have decided our perfect Tail Number. The one I want is taken too. So if you ever get N501MS, let me know and I'll trade. Yep, I graduated from The Citadel a long time ago. BTW, I'm seen Tunny cruising out under thd(Old) Cooper River Bridge a time or two.
