Jet of Blood was the first of four short Absurdist plays in our LU Theatre Arts production, B'Srd Shrtz. Listed here on the Greyfell Channel for our Start-up Theatre offering Dec 2015 to plan Fringe Festival applications to travel this production under the Greyfell banner.

The three women in dresses are the scorpions. If you've ever read the original script you would realize how un-stageable half of it is.

CAMMYisTHEbest are you telling me people won’t put live scorpions up their vaginas for a play? Or that they can’t summon arms, buildings, and columns to float around two stars? That they can’t get god almighty himself to bring down his hand to be used as a prop? Unbelievable people these days!

I'm a theatre student from Brazil. I'm doing my major in theatre in Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Ceará and I'll direct Jet of Blood for my final direction exam and you all really help me to understand more of the nightmare world of Artaud. Thanks! You're so good

I first learned of Artaud from a video by Jacob Geller, talking about "ugly games" and their meaning, and found this video from looking to see if Spurt/Jet of Blood had been performed or made using modern movie techniques (which renders the dream imagery trivial). I really like the performance here, and though I don't know much about Artaud, I think he would appreciate your performance of his play. I particularly like the red-clad ..stage attendants? I'm not sure the correct term, the closest I know of is "kuroko," from Noh theatre. I think they were a wonderful method of interpreting the dream imagery of Artaud's script.

I have always thought Artaud was hilarious, seen in comedy this script makes more sense.

Thanks for watching! Hard to answer that directly, the play is filled with dream imagery, so each production responds to the the symbols and embraces the mystery of imagination. - TXT
