Warped Perception

Күн бұрын

I Mount 3 jet engines to my Tesla Model S to make the world's first Tesla with Jet Thrusters, I call it the Jet-Powered Tesla as I do in fact drive it under only jet power.
This build was extremely in-depth, I listened to what everyone was asking for in the past videos and I built almost every single part from the ground up, I counted over 200 parts in total.
The next project I'm going to be doing with this car is going to be even more extreme.
Not only did I make over 200 parts but I also had 88 folders full of video footage because the build took about 42 days total and my schedule was heavily affected by raw material shortages.
All the machines and equipment I use are on my Website: www.ShopWarpedPerception.com
But I do have a lot of other footage and cool videos that I took while filming this episode, I'm going to be posting them on my second Channel called "Unthinkable" Here's a link to that channel / @warpedlab and I will have the first jet-powered Tesla-related videos uploaded shortly after this one posts.
Thanks for watching and thanks for everybody's support!!
I'm gearing up to make more intense episodes so look out for those.

I just want to take a moment to show some appreciation, no, admiration for all the skills needed to so this. A person could make a good life off of having just one of 2 of the skills or areas of expertise to make all this happen. You've got them all wrapped up in one guy. I feel like I need to step up my game as a man. - Electronics, embedded systems - Programming - CAD (Computer Aided Design) - CAM (Computer Aided Machining) - Welding, Aluminum welding? You know how seriously hard that is? I've never been able to master it. - Knowledge of fluid dynamics (Air Flow) - Knowledge of Thermodynamics, Jet engine life cycle. - Creativity, look at all the problems that had to be overcome to make this not be a complete disaster! I'm just speechless. What an inspiration.

That aircraft style console is probably the coolest part. Especially the 747 style throttle gauges. 🤯
@newtonfirefly3584
@newtonfirefly3584 2 жыл бұрын
Your comment clearly states how much You enjoy the look of the jet engine throttle levers. However, it is clear You have never actually been inside any jet engine aircraft cockpit or a cockpit simulator either. Firstly, the B-747, has four jet engines, as the B-707, not three. A B-727. DC-9, MD-88, DC-10, MD-11, L-1011 commercial aircraft and maybe some other smaller [though unlikely] have three engines, thus three jet engine throttle levers. The B-757, B-767 have two engines. All such jet engine aircraft have similar sliding throttle levers. The gauges are certainly not similar to the B-747-400, since the avionics and instrumentation are completely electronic with LCD monitors and as was required by the FAA, a few older physical instruments for backup [horizon, etc.]. there are no such old 'LED' or 'LCD' character displays. My engineering work led me to be within a team contracted to McDonnell-Douglas to support their testing of the MD-11 avionics and cockpit instrumentation from Sperry including the fixed based, full cockpit simulator with visuals [August 1988-December 1989]. Sperry also made the same avionics and cockpit, duplicated for the B-747-400 which was designed, built and produced during the same time period. Thus, also had the opportunity to use the simulator to 'fly the aircraft', from the pilot seat to test operation and experience it also. Also the military aircraft, including the propeller type use the sliding throttle controls too, for many decades, back to 80-90 years ago too. Actual pilots of various aircraft can give You their level of detailed information. All the Best. Sincerely

The best part for me was in the second attempt, when the jets were at full thrust, you see the jet mounts under tension, and as you began accelerating, the mounts sprang back. The low light gave the extra cool effect looking at the jet exhaust. The wheels were spinning cause the weight of the car was being lifted off from the pavement by the jets; you may angle the jets a degree or so down to keep traction on the wheels. Looking forward to the next run.

@@WarpedPerception yeah, I was thinking the same, people don't realize that the jet mount like that is a giant lever, the further the distance bring the thrust from the fulcrum, the more that force is multiplied at the fulcrum. The amount of extra reinforcing required just to raise the turbines by a foot would have been extraordinary, probably would have had no choice but to go through the trunk and bumper with additional tubing, also complicating any mechanism for raising and lowering the turbines up and down going in and out of the airstream. Amazing build Matt, I know that you only showed maybe 1% of what went into this, extraordinary!

It's a start... More reinforcing, upgrade the middle engine to match the two end engines, maybe upgrade all three in the future. It would be more impressive on a lighter gas powered 2wd car that normally struggles with traction, the fact that it helps at all on one of the quickest performing 0-60 production cars in history shows that it's a serious kit. @@jeffjackson6358 yh but even when they’re stationary, air isn’t hard to find, it’s literally plenty around still. Behind a fast ish moving car, it’s thin. I don’t know if you know about slipstreams and towing when it comes to racing, but in the wake of fast moving cars, the air immediately behind tgem is thinner, giving less resistance to trailing cars, thus making them need less fuel to maintain speed, as well as an acceleration advantage for easy overtakes, hence the term slipstream. Like the original comment said, I still feel like if it was raised from an air neutral zone, it would ge more powerful

The kerosene hose is short to prevent you from fueling a diesel road vehicle with it. In very cold weather you would cut diesel fuel with Kerosene to lower the pour point and prevent gelling in the fuel filter. I used to keep an empty fuel can in my old Mercedes so I could fuel with Kero. The real issue is it's untaxed.
