That was one of the best de-mistifying gas turbine starts. Thank you.

Well done one of the best start producers I've seen, in focus and good explanation and more importantly as for how and why. A student would be very confident with this instructor, and also confident in finishing what they started out to achieve. Well done.

Thanks for cleaning things up. I kept going up to babies in a manger and trying to pull pitch until I saw this video. I could have saved years of jail time if I had only seen it sooner.

This is the most bizarre video I've seen in a while. I watched this thinking it would be just another bland, nerdy video, but this turned out to be a lot of fun! (A really good thing is that the music didn't drown out the sound of the turbine. Very good editing!)
@KRAZEEIZATION4 жыл бұрын
Crazy! Makes it look easier than driving a car! How long does it take to get to a chopper solo flight?

I would mention turning on the generator and avionics switches and possibly the lights after the RPMs are at 100 but good video none the less. Thanks.

You are absolutely correct. An oversight...hopefully I'll update this at some point soon. R.

That rapid temperature rise does not stress the turbine engine?

There's some weird stuff going on with this video. You turned on boost pumps and battery, then check throttle(lots of fuel in the can now. The drains will take care of it, but why risk it?). Then you look at the console and fuel pressure is at zero. It looks like the battery is off. The next shot you're ready to start and the Fuel PSI is where it should be. Not sure what all is happening here.
@hunteran7 жыл бұрын
Kyle Leonard Engine driven fuel pump isn't pumping anything when the engine isn't running (the CBs he checked prior to turning on the battery were for the electrically powered boost pumps which assist the engine driven fuel pump). All he was doing was checking if the twist grip was binding and it didn't introduce any fuel into the engine when he did that. The fuel pressure gauge only measures the pressure of the boost pumps so that's why it was in the green before the engine started.

I am not a pilot. But have been doing research on this. I noticed that the Generator is usually turned on once the N1 gauge hits 70%. Why was it not here? Or did i miss something?
@noraygrets69646 жыл бұрын
as per the manual after the 1 min warm up, you roll throttle to 70% N1, turn on GEN switch and roll back to idle.
