Jet Wood Lathe Bed Extension

4 жыл бұрынThe working length of the Jet JWL 1220VS-M model wood lathe was 50cm. I made an extension to work longer pieces. The main body of the extension is made of beech wood. I mounted a flat iron on the part where the trench and counter-tailstock moved. I now have a 130cm working distance.

Hi. Very interesting and creative solution to the problem. I have a Jet 1014 VS lathe and I can’t find a bed extension anywhere. I like your idea of using wood. I have some questions if you don’t mind. 1. What kind of iron did you use? I’ve never heard of Lama Iron. 2. How thick were the iron rails? 3. How did you attach them to the wood? 4. Where can I get this Lama iron? Thanks, and good job. Paul

Hi Paul, thank you. What you need to do is to make the same bed of the lathe. For the dimensions, you should refer to the bed dimensions of the lathe you have. If you write me an e-mail address, I can send you detailed photos.

Looks great, wish you would have added how you connected the extension to the base of the lathe, with a few pictures.

There were two holes on the right surface of the lathe for mounting the extension fixture. I installed L-shaped brackets in these holes. I placed the extension on it and screwed it.

This is a great looking extension. I have just purchased the same model lathe. Any chance you can share plans or photos? What dimensions did you use for the iron bars?
