Jethro Tull - Banker Bets, Banker Wins (Thick As a Brick - Live in Iceland)
Available Now: mercury-studios.lnk.to/Jethro...
Jethro Tull's famous concept album "Thick As A Brick" was originally released in 1972 and featured one continuous track spread across two sides of an LP telling the story of a young boy called Gerald Bostock.
40 years later in 2012, Jethro Tull's founder and leader Ian Anderson created "Thick As A Brick 2: Whatever Happened To Gerald Bostock?". Following this release Ian Anderson took both albums on the road to perform the complete story of Gerald Bostock and this concert from the tour was filmed in Iceland. The show combines music, video screens and mime to bring Gerald's tale to life as never before and create the definitive presentation of "Thick As A Brick".

This is the stuff he should still sing. The material that he's written with his current vocal abilities. Honestly, he doesn't sound bad in this one at all....but his older songs....it's brutal to watch him. Just get a ballsy vocalist to do the older material. Ian is still awesome at all the instrument sections he plays. And he can sing them more recent material.

Wash your mouth out. "Dinosaur"? What a stupid thing to say. Ian Anderson's contribution to the history of modern British music is absolutely enormous. Because of his/Tull's music not being fashionable or acceptably hip to the art and image crowd his music is criminally underrated. As is the quality of his musicianship ditto. He has always been a magnificent flute player, effortlessly skipping from blues to rock to jazz-inflected playing to folk and roots music, his soloing constantly creative, completely fluent and often inspired. For me he's great to watch here in 2014 - I think this is a great song/piece any way you slice it - as he was in his early 20s. Check out the Isle of Wight 1970 footage (cf My Sunday Feeling) to see Tull the cutting edge underground band playing with the most amazing energy, togetherness and panache. Who else in the "rock" field has been this good for this long? Answer: absolutely no-one. If we were to imagine the Rock Hall Of Fame has just been created, the first Brit to walk through the door should be Ian Anderson. Great as people like Robert Fripp, David Bowie & Page/Plant (and the other "greats") have been, their contribution and influence very considerable, all of them should be placed a long way behind Anderson. Writer, singer, uniquely idiosyncratic performer, flautist, guitarist, mandolin player, arranger, producer: the consummate all-rounder, and never had a music lesson in his life. His only equal, it seems to me, is Todd Rundgren. There's another in his 60s still making tremendous music (better than Ian's, I have to admit) and like IA, totally underrated.

I bought this when it came out. At the time, i thought it was "fairly ok" when compared to their 1972 masterpiece. I questioned Ian's reasoning as to why he'd even put this out. No way it could even come close to the first THICK AS A BRICK. I bought it out of curiosity anyway as i am a huge Tull fan, and i have been listening to it recently. I have to admit that this album has grown on me and it stands up a lot more than i gave it credit for. The playing is superb, his band is great, the Tull vibe is pretty intact and Ian Anderson is a musical genius. What more can i say

@@NuntiusLegis I have to agree. I love Martin, but honestly, most of the guitar parts of music done after the split sound Tullish, whether Martin or Florian, or the new guy are playing ... it's just good music and orchestration.
