Yesterday, I watched a Jethro Tull concert in São Paulo. Ian Anderson and the band performed 'Heavy Horses.' It's incredible how much energy this song still has, 46 years after its release. The entire setlist was engaging, but this song was special!!!

Ian's voice is a million times better than any rock star ever! His showmanship and sex appeal was so powerful, I could never understand why Jethro Tull wasn't much bigger. They will always be superstars to me!! I loved the romance and naughtiness of a medieval past they were able to conjure in rock-n-roll. The band was awesome, great musicians that were so much better than hundreds and hundreds of bands that are supposed to be so good. I still 💘 them!!

wasn't much bigger?!?! Wath are you saying???? Jethro Tull is one of the most seminal, respected and appreciated bands ever. How can you say they have not received the proper appreciation, where do you get this misinformation? Try asking anyone who listens to Rock and you will see that they were among the most important bands ever... Then Ian is a great frontman, sex appeal in music is not needed, the best for you, everyone can have their own favorite (for example for me the best remains Peter Gabriel with Genesis).

Pardon my French but nothing Ian Anderson does is "half-a**ed" He puts his 100% feelings, passion and his all into those songs that mean something to him. That's why I admire him and because there's songs they do that pay homage and tribute important matters [e.g. The great and powerful work done by those beautiful creatures those massive equine he honored in 'Heavy Horses all those many years before technology came along. That says a great deal about a person to recognize that. Or, his ode to a tiny rodent most don't think how they might feel but Ian was thoughtful enough to think about 'One Brown Mouse.' Even in 'Weathercock' he makes this object become alive thinking how it could.feel and thanking it for its work. Jethro Tull is one-of-a-kind and added greatly to the humongous songbook of the entire world from the beginning of time. JT=Just Tremendous!

Jethro Tull Lyrics "Heavy Horses" Iron-clad feather-feet pounding the dust An October's day, towards evening Sweat embossed veins standing proud to the plough Salt on a deep chest seasoning Last of the line at an honest day's toil Turning the deep sod under Flint at the fetlock, chasing the bone Flies at the nostrils plunder. The Suffolk, the Clydesdale, the Percheron vie with the Shire on his feathers floating Hauling soft timber into the dusk to bed on a warm straw coating. Heavy Horses, move the land under me Behind the plough gliding --- slipping and sliding free Now you're down to the few And there's no work to do The tractor's on its way. Let me find you a filly for your proud stallion seed to keep the old line going. And we'll stand you abreast at the back of the wood behind the young trees growing To hide you from eyes that mock at your girth, and your eighteen hands at the shoulder And one day when the oil barons have all dripped dry and the nights are seen to draw colder They'll beg for your strength, your gentle power your noble grace and your bearing And you'll strain once again to the sound of the gulls in the wake of the deep plough, sharing. Standing like tanks on the brow of the hill Up into the cold wind facing In stiff battle harness, chained to the world Against the low sun racing Bring me a wheel of oaken wood A rein of polished leather A Heavy Horse and a tumbling sky Brewing heavy weather. Bring a song for the evening Clean brass to flash the dawn across these acres glistening like dew on a carpet lawn In these dark towns folk lie sleeping as the heavy horses thunder by to wake the dying city with the living horseman's cry At once the old hands quicken --- bring pick and wisp and curry comb --- thrill to the sound of all the heavy horses coming home.

..For a one off..brief as heck Tull group..what a rewarding piece of music..I can understand BB was more musically involved in the ever weaving imagery with this band..Jethro Tull was his life and his canvass..his drumming is legendary...A righty who learned drums as a lefty..Mark Craney was a humble fusion jazz guy with great feel along with American rock power..it's not about better..Ian needed a drummer..and sure he's different..anyone's gonna be...I think it was an ace choice..Mark had nothing but soul with his drumming and was a damn mountain of a player...The 'A' album and the Slipstream show this...just brilliant..

What an extraordinarily talented group of gents! Songs From The Wood & Heavy Horses are such classic studio albums. I never really think of them being played live because of all that's involved in each & every song! Take "Velvet Green" as an example. How on earth could you reproduce that in a reasonable way for the stage?? I still prefer the studio versions, but this live performance just shows what a brilliant group of musicians they were.
