These Tull box sets are superb. I wish other classic bands would take heed at how to properly reissue their back catalogue!

I agree with you that A Passion Play is a great album.

I have all of these Tull re issues. They really are of a standard that other classic bands should look to when making reissues. Sadly most don't

Hi Barry, Not sure if I posted but if I did or didn't I want to commend you for this unboxing. I think I may have responded on a Tull Facebook group page. Still waiting for mine. Like that Tull song... Reasons for waiting from their Stand Up album. All these reasons you have shown... worth the wait. No group or company give as much love to these reissues as Chrysalis/Parlophone. Thank you Ian, and thank you Barry.. P.S. - I too am already looking forward to their next one.. and this one hasn't arrived yet. Loved their previous sets. God bless the Tull. Tino

This album has aged very well. It seemed quite dull and old fashioned when it came out! ‘Bring me a wheel of oaken wood’ indeed!
@arkanoiddude4 жыл бұрын
Haha that's because it was released during the "punk" boom, which altered the landscape of the rock world. By this time bands like Tull, Genesis, Yes, Pink Floyd et al were out-of-fashion and considered "dinosaurs".

My CD player went into mothballs years ago. They might as well have released it on a cylinder.

Dumb move. Cd's are still alive and well and sound so much better than computer files.

I wonder how long these special editions wll keep on coming. I'm assuming Dot Com will b e the last one. Ian should be putting out an extremely fantastic Bursting Out Album. Make it more like a book. Everybody's story from birth to present.. An autobiographical project, but also include a lof cds and dvds With a lot of live songs never heard. It should be beautiful, huge, with 50 anniversary spelled out really huge. If it's done really really well It will go over amazingly well.

I don't it very much. Why do you think so?

Seems logical.

The classic era of tull was before too old to rock and roll.

I don,t think that you can compare Clive bunker with Barry Barlow, both great rock drummers but neither could have done a better job of each others work.
@classicalbum5 жыл бұрын
I agree. Both were great
@arkanoiddude4 жыл бұрын
True, Bunker and Barlow were different styles. Bunker was more in the vein of a John Bonham-type player while Barlow was more of a Carl Palmer-style bombastic prog drummer.

Does it also get a vinyl reissue like SftW? Can't seem to find any info online.

I don't know

Lets hope so. I've gotten all the tull/wilson remixes that they pressed on vinyl. Great job mastering, keeping it like the original but very clean. Only complaint is whoever is pressing the vinyl seems to pull from mold to soon. Record's NOT flat.

I bought it for the extra tracks, most of which I like. Unfortunately Hack Wilson's remix sounds like it was recorded on a walkman in a barrel outside a barn. Amazing how he ruins these classic albums, obscuring the depth and complexity of the music. Just because his own band is coffee house trash doesn't mean he has to ruin other people's music.
