Jethro Tull - "Leno in the Past"

Күн бұрынIt was April 28, 1993... what better way to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary than to round up a bunch of friends and head over to Burbank to catch Tull on the venerable show promoting their new 25th Anniversary Box Set and tour? I was in the front row for Lantern Jaw and Company (it was fascinating to watch Branford Marsalis study Ian... and vice versa... with obvious respect). And then go home and watch it on T.V. The only bummer... George Steinbrenner was on and he spent so much time talking about nothing (the Yankees sucked then)... that there was no time left at the end of the show... Tull was SUPPOSED to play Thick as a Brick at the end!!... it never happened. Screw him!! Go Dodgers!

I was there! I asked Leno in the pre-show warm up if he was a Jethro Tull fan. Later he asked Al Gore the same question! No answer! LOL

Saw them at the Los Angeles Forum in 1975 for the Warchild tour. As a young teen, I tagged along with my older sister and her friends and I was totally blown away... they were magnificent.

That was my first Tull concert as well ... '75 at The Forum. I was so blown away that I vowed to never miss a tour ... 65 concerts later, I've come pretty close.

I saw the Passion Play tour in 1973 and about a dozen Tull concerts since, He's a musical genius even though he can't read a note of music.

He can read and write music .... When he traded a guitar for a flute, he transposed the guitar notes to the flute. Your statement is false and misleading. He wrote 99% of the extensive Tull material..

I see Ian's voice had already started to go by this point, I always wondered when that started to happen. Doesn't hamper his flute-playing skills one bit, though; sharp and lively as ever

Ian reveals it in the interview just after the song... that's Matthew Pegg, son of then regular Tull bassist David Pegg. Matthew would later tour that summer playing with Procol Harum, opening for Tull's 25th Anniversary tour.

I've seen Ian and Tull twice at the Luther Burbank Center ... now renamed for some bullshit company. It was a long drive, but worth it. Also saw them at the San Rafael Civic Center once, and at the Oakland Coliseum countless times. Apparently one of the times when two days after John Glasscock passed away. By the time they get out of CA, USA they are dragging and the shows are sucking for the most part.

@@daniellee8458 Certainly jealous of Ian's talent, the man is an amazing composer and a very organized business man, but not at all of Ian's singing voice. It is terrible in concert, and I bet I have seen many more JT/IA concerts than you have.
