Even as an ink and fountain pen enthusiast, $300 for a bottle of ink is still ridiculous.

Kinda sucks they weren't able to recreate the original ink because some components were discontinued in the 7+ years since its original release. But I think the new ink is still just as pretty and reminds me of peafowl feathers! I think really, the whole mess was a consequence of a lack of clear communication about the ink not being exactly the same as the original but more reimagining of it, and maybe just considering giving the bottle a different name. Though from what I read up on, I think a part of the misunderstanding was the US LAMY branch claiming it was the exact same as the original (the German branch did apparently confirm it was a new formula). I think it would be cool for LAMY to try another shot at recreating the original 2016 dark lilac with different materials that still might not be the exact same at a different point, but probably still get closer to what people were expecting. But I know that despite how pretty the original ink, I wouldn't pay $300+ for a small bottle. At that point, someone might want to try making their own ink instead.
