I continue to enjoy your channel. I used to be intimidated by small beadwork so I stayed with macrame necklaces with large beads of ceramic or stone. You have helped more than you can know!

Jill a trick that works for your glue is to get some Vaseline and wipe a good quantity around the inside of the lid and the neck of the glue on first opening, it stops the glue attaching to the surfaces, then after each use wipe and repeat to maintain it.

You can run some fine sandpaper on your faces of the nylon jaw pliers to give you grippage and lessen the slip

Jill, great project. You might investigate doing the traditional knotted closure loop and button to finish the bracelet OR you can paint. Bit of rubber cement on each side of the jaw of the nylon jaw pliers to provide a bit of traction to keep the crimp bar from sliding when closing it. Once you're done closing your crimps, you can just peel off the rubber cement.

A trick I found with the glue tubes is to use a nut cracker around the base thread of the tip. My nut cracker has 3 different sizes...I think that is standard, but just fyi.

Jill, I have watched many jewelry making videos and I must say I love your teaching style and photography and directions the best. Thank you!! I have a question about the hippie chick bracelet...can the crimp ends be placed closer to the super duos so there is not gap?

I want to make a lanyard using these ideas. Narrower, and be sure that the ends are secure enough to hold keys. I am eager to use the neon colored Superduos.

To do surgeons knot: first over/under then when you do the second under/over go under again before pulling tight. Easy peasy.

Hi Jill. Just wanted to let you know that I absolutely love your tutorials. Your work is beautiful and your teaching on video is wonderful and easy to follow. I do have a questions... where do you get the cool mats that you are working on, i like the leopard edge but it looks like fabric in the center. I hate these velvet type pads to work on. Thanks for yourhelp

Don't want to look silly trying to give some tips to the Master, but when you complained about the glue, i thought right away that if you put some vaseline on the tip right when you first open it, it never will be so upsetting. Also, I hate to use nylon jaw pliers to crimp those ribbon ends - it's REALLY slippery and takes more time to get it doen then it should, so I just put some sticky tape (blue or green - it must be a little stretchy to pull it around) on the flat nose pliers' jaws, and voila! It doesn't slide off so easy and job gets done faster. Please, do not judge me hard if you already know all this - I love your videos, and just wanted to thank you with something you may find useful :)

When you talk about switching from Fireline to thread, do you mean regular sewing thread or something else? If it is regular sewing thread is it heavy duty or normal weight, polyester or cotton?Maybe it is something else entirely different. Could you please be more specific about what you mean by thread? Love your videos and designs.

@RingoWild
@RingoWild 8 жыл бұрын
I don't think Jill means regular sewing thread because I've never had to stretch that kind of thread. Beading thread generally needs to stretched and waxed as well to ensure its durability. Some beading thread comes pre waxed or preconditioned. I also pre stretch the leather cord (gently) so it doesn't get loose over time. :)

I got the kit from JTV and I'm looking forward to giving this a go -- my first project -- so I'm left feeling wanting. Silly little things I suppose for more experienced beaders -- for instance -- how much firewire to use? Shrug -- there are no directions in the kit either, so I'm just going to use all of it. The instructions in the video are clear -- love your style -- but would have appreciated a few minor details. Sorry -- just newbie whining to most people, I'm sure. Thanks :)

ROOKIE MISTAKE. Don't use all the fireline that comes in the kit -- I ended up with a tangled mess! I cut it and am starting over with what's left -- just winging it -- maybe 2 yards -- fingers crossed it's enough :)
