I was almost 4 when this song came out and I still remember singing it in the back of my parents station wagon and making my mom replay the tape we had. I wanted to be Jewel when I grew up, 20 years later I still love this song, reminds me of simpler times lol. Weird how a song can bring back such vivid memories.

I LOVE this song!! My beautiful wife died in 2017 after 46 years of marriage, and this song always makes me think of her and how great our marriage was. She was the best thing that ever happened to me and when she passed away I was heart broken, and I will never forget her. I have tears in my eyes right now as I listen to this song. The simple things in life that we all experience every day. Funny how they mean so much and we take them for granted.

This song is dripping with beauty and sorrow. I heard it once when I felt mad and just unhappy, and I burst into tears and was sobbing for 5 minutes on a public bus when it was being aired on the radio, in 2015. I was shocked to hear it played because I knew it was very uncommon to hear old songs played, and I felt at the time very isolated and lonely, and it broke my heart to hear such a song that expressed all the overwhelming anguish and pain I felt.

Still one of the most perfect songs I ever heard. At the same time, it's hard to realize that the positive shock it caused while listening to it for the very first time won't ever come back. And to all of you complaining that "they don't make music like that any more" (I read this under almost every song from each and every decade): Remember your parents said the very same thing. And before them, your grand parents said it. It's just plainly wrong. There are a lot of great artists out there waiting to be discovered on your favorite streaming services, on Bandcamp, on SoundCloud and in that little club around the corner. Just be a bit more open and curious. Like you were when you discovered Jewel back then.

I came here bc I felt like going back to the 90s and this is one of the first music videos I can remember. It’s weird picturing what you remember in your head from 20 years ago and then seeing it for the first time in that long. This definitely isn’t and wasn’t my music of choice, I’m a rocker, but she has a beautiful voice and you just don’t hear anything like it anymore.
