It's the ammonia in glass cleaner. I buy a jug of grocery brand sudsey ammonia pour a splash in a glass custard cup (Pyrex) and add hot water. Great way to clean diamond rings and body oils off precious metals and silver. Do not put on pearls nor other delicates that no cleaner should touch.

I see you wearing a blue enamel charm on your bracelet! How do you keep the colour like new? I have a Tiffany pink enamel necklace and I’ve found it’s faded. I’ve cleaned it and polished it but everything seems to go back to original colour but the colour on that charm!
@LittleBlueJewelryBox
@LittleBlueJewelryBox 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching!! I really just try to avoid any chemicals or cleaners getting onto the enamel portion of my bracelet. I generally just clean it with dawn dish soap and water. Unfortunately once the enamel has faded it most likely will not return to the original color. Sometimes extended time in direct sunlight can also cause the enamel items to discolor. I'm sorry to hear that your bracelet has faded! You might try taking it into Tiffany customer service when they are back up and running- it is possible they may be able to replace the charm for you depending on when your bracelet was purchased! I hope that helps.

I’m buying my first Tiffany piece! I’m stuck choosing between the heart tag charm bracelet and the heart tag toggle bracelet which one do you recommend getting as a first piece? Thank you (:
@LittleBlueJewelryBox
@LittleBlueJewelryBox 3 жыл бұрын
Congrats on your new piece!! If you plan to wear your bracelet everyday- I recommend the classic heart tag bracelet over the toggle. Mainly because it is more comfortable to wear- and has a more secure clasp. The toggle is beautiful but I find that I wear my lobster clasp bracelets way more often because they so much more comfortable. I pull my toggle bracelet out when I want to switch it up. I hope that helps!

Hi there! Thank you for watching. 💕 Tiffany gold is solid gold and never plated (unless it’s a specific vintage item or gilded homeware item) Typically Tiffany uses solid 18k gold for all of their gold jewelry pieces. I hope that helps!

Question...can cleaning your necklaces way too often be bad for it? Also I went to the stores and sadly they aren’t taking any jewelry for cleanings but they said I could use Palmolive to clean my pieces. Have you ever heard of that? Also, I am considering applying for a job there. They did say they offer discounts to their employees. Do you know how much it is? And what they look for in employees? Thank you😊
@LittleBlueJewelryBox
@LittleBlueJewelryBox 3 жыл бұрын
Hi there- Cleaning your necklaces too often can wear down the metal over time if you are using a polishing cloth. Every time you polish silver or gold you essentially are taking a small layer of the metal off- which is great because you can easily buff out scratches- but if you over-do it you can damage your pieces. That is interesting that they suggested Palmolive!! I know it works well to remove dirt and oils from your pieces but I am not sure how well it removes tarnish- depending on the type of item you want to clean it can definitely help!! Also- Tiffany was an amazing place to work and the discount was really nice!! I am not sure if it is still the same- but when I worked there it was 50% for sterling items and 20% for fine jewelry up to a certain amount (excluding engagement rings). I know they do look for sales experience or customer service- depending on the position you are applying for. I would recommend taking a look at Tiffanycareers.com before you apply- they have some helpful info on what positions you might be interested in! Good luck and I hope you get the job!! I loved my time there. ❤️❤️❤️

Hi, I know this video is older and you may not respond but I am purchasing the lady bug blue charm with the silver chain necklace as a wedding gift for my something blue, but will not be wearing it until the wedding. I wanted to buy it early, so I can be sure I have it so I purchased over the phone and will be picking up this week. I was wondering the best way to store it as I won’t be wearing it until February for the wedding, and I don’t want it to tarnish before hand. Also, what is the best way I can care for the piece after wearing, and should I only wear it sparingly? It is my first Tiffany piece, and as it is going to be special to me I want to take care of it
@LittleBlueJewelryBox
@LittleBlueJewelryBox 3 жыл бұрын
Congratulations on your wedding and your new Tiffany piece!! I LOVE the blue lady bug charm. I used to have the red ladybug but would love to add the blue to my own collection one day. I recommend storing it in the box and pouch until your wedding. That will help to keep it from oxidizing and tarnishing. You might also consider purchase a silver polishing cloth (they are fairly inexpensive) to brighten up the silver portions from time to time- it works really well. You will want to be careful to avoid the blue enamel areas when using a cloth so that it does not discolor. The enamel pieces can discolor if worn out in the sun for extended periods of time (many days in a row) or if they are exposed to harsh chemicals. Having said that- I have blue enamel charms on my bracelets that I wear all the time and have yet to have any issues. I just am sure to take it off when showering/ cleaning with chemicals. You an also clean both the silver and enamel with mild detergent like dawn dish soap and warm water. I hope that helps!

I have a necklaces I bought like a year ago, the thing is I started to wear it like a week ago and today I notice that my neck had like a black line I don’t know how to explain it but I took the necklace off and I had a vanish green color in some spots. The necklace has the 925 mark and idk what I should do😕
@LittleBlueJewelryBox
@LittleBlueJewelryBox 4 жыл бұрын
Hmmm I know that sometimes even sterling silver can react to chemicals in certain lotions and perfumes. I would clean the necklace thoroughly with silver polish and then rinse it in warm water (or take it in to be professionally cleaned when stores open back up again) and then make sure to let any perfumes or lotions dry before wearing. If it’s still happening- I would take it in and let them know. They may exchange the item or send it out for a deep cleaning. ❤️

Hi,you have a very beautiful collection 😍 May I ask you a question? Don't your enamelled Tiffany charms ruin with your sweat in Summer? I have a necklace with an enamelled heart tag charm and i am afraid i will ruin it with my sweat if i wear the enamelled part directly on my skin.......sorry for my english,but I'm italian 😉
@LittleBlueJewelryBox
@LittleBlueJewelryBox 4 жыл бұрын
Hi there- thanks so much! Enamel can become discolored if exposed to excess sunlight and yes sweat can also discolor lighter enamel more easily (I’ve noticed the white and pink enamel discolors more easily than black or blue). I personally have never had any issues with my enamel pieces but I don’t wear them everyday. If you clean the enamel with a soft wet cloth after wearing it will definitely help to prevent discoloration. I hope that helps!

Thank you for the tips but what if the pieces have already tarnished?
@LittleBlueJewelryBox
@LittleBlueJewelryBox 3 жыл бұрын
I would give the same tips! The tiffany silver polish or polishing cloth work great on tarnished items. If the piece is very badly tarnished I would bring it into a Tiffany store for professional cleaning. They use silver tumblers and ultrasonic machines to give a much deeper cleaning than you can get at home.

What do you recommend to remove scratches from pieces ?
@LittleBlueJewelryBox

I recommend using polishing cloths! The standard ones work really well for surface scratches. If you have a deeper scratch I would use Sunshine cloths. They are more abrasive and work amazingly well. You can find them on amazon.

@LittleBlueJewelryBox
@LittleBlueJewelryBox 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! The in store cleaning fee for silver was around $30 the last time I checked- though it has been a while so I may be off by a few dollars. Sometimes your sales professional will clean your pieces for free if you have a good relationship. All fine/diamond jewelry is free to clean. When they send an item to NY for repair or for deep cleaning the charge will vary based on the piece. I hope that helps!! 👍🏻

Does chlorine ruin Tiffany jewelry? I went in the pool for about 10 minutes and when I came out my necklace and bracelet looked really dull and cloudy and I can’t seem to get it out 😞
@LittleBlueJewelryBox
@LittleBlueJewelryBox 4 жыл бұрын
Yes! Chlorine will turn your silver Tiffany jewelry- it is a chemical reaction- but don’t worry it can be fixed! It just needs a good cleaning. Bring it into your closest store and they can fix it for you! I had clients bring their items in that had turned completely black after wearing into super chlorinated hot tubs and they came out of in-store cleaning looking new. 👍🏻 They will run it through a silver tumbler and use the right chemicals to fix your piece.

So question if you have a watch and need a battery are they to charge you several hundred dollars for this? Also if you have many pieces they will free of charge clean them if they are tarnished? I am so surprised even properly storing them and hardly if ever wearing many of the pieces they are so tarnished. One of the pieces I didn’t even wear and it looks horrible, I polished it with the cloth but it still looks bad lol. Was going to go to the local Tiffany’s this week and get a charm added and get some of my pieces cleaned also have watches looked at. I know years ago Someone took advantage of me when I brought my mothers watch in to replace the battery and just have them to a general cleaning. When I got a bill I was so disenchanted. It’s funny you can have a lot of jewelry but you end up wearing the same pieces all the time lol.

Unfortunately, Tiffany does not usually repair enamel pieces. If the item is less than a year old and already has significant enamel wear they may replace the charm for you altogether. Hi- thank you so much for watching! That is a good question and you are absolutely correct- any pieces made outside of the US will be marked (usually Italy or Spain for jewelry) while the US made pieces are just marked with the metal purity stamp. You will find a lot of the Elsa Peretti items are marked Spain on the clasp - while the crystal home decor items will often have a made in Germany sticker. It is usually certain collections that are manufactured in these countries.

at the price they sale their jewelry, I wonder why these aren't rhodium plated, so they just wouldn't tarnish at all...

I’m grateful they don’t. Rhodium plating is a sign of very low quality in silver pieces. It flakes and it chips, and you cannot simply polish it off when that happens like regular tarnish. It just looks worse, ragged, and requires professional stripping.

100% agree with this comment. That is the reason that Tiffany does not use any plating or finishes on their silver. Rhodium wears unevenly and does not allow for silver polishing. I also love the natural patina that sterling silver gets over time.

Any idea how to remove a stain from their bone China?

That is a good question! I personally have not removed stains from bone china pieces before. I will do a little research and see if I can find any tips for you.

@@LittleBlueJewelryBox thanks so much! I am pretty sure it’s a coffee stain if that helps.

From what I can find - it sounds like a mixture of baking soda and white vinegar can be used to spot treat stains on fine bone china. You mix the vinegar and baking soda into a paste, then let it sit on the stain for apx 20 minutes and then rinse with water and soft cloth. This won’t damage the china and but is abrasive enough to get stains out. I would test it on the underside of your item first- just to be safe. I hope this helps and works for you!

I had to come back to give an update. I put the cup in the dishwasher on the high temp setting and the stain is gone. I had never put it in the dishwasher because I thought it might get ruined. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I might not put it in the dishwasher regularly but at least I know that helps if I need it. I did try the vinegar alone (I didn’t have baking soda at hand) and at least alone it did not work.

Lovely video but I have decided to not buy Tiffany anymore. Absolutely ridiculous the silver requires so much care for such a high price tag. You can get beautiful pieces from other jewelry stores in yellow/white gold and experience none of this. Cheers!

Thanks for watching! I hear you. Prices keep rising. I mostly buy preloved these days but I love silver and don’t mind the upkeep. It’s not much trouble really. Everyone has their preference though! ❤️

Can you shower 🚿 with the silver on ?

You can! I do. As long there is no enamel, pearls or delicate stones in your silver you can definitely shower in it.
