Safety Concern: Closing your eyes does not protect you from the UV radiation produced in ALL welding practices be it tiny or welding together a bridge. You absolutely MUST at the very least wear eye protection with a 100% UV rating. I am astounded that "closing your eyes" is even mentioned in this video.
@gregdunn401 Жыл бұрын
it does protect from most of it at this power but generally yes your correct the correct eye protection is a must and it isnt just the uv rating as you can get cat 1 (clear) uv400 100% uv protection upto and including 400nm, you need both uv and visible light protection otherwise you still risk retinal arc burns even without the uv aspect to the flash

Interesting, like a TIG without the inert gas. I've seen these pulse welders before with the inert gas, they can be pretty impressive.

Just get a Co2 tank and aim a little hose near the electrode. When they have integrated Co2, it's just a little puff that comes out of the electrode, with the pulse.

@hitty Thought i'd chime in... been buying their products for over 7 years. I would start small & do Jewelry pieces using instructions avaliable at the site. I wouldn't do full on costumes from the get-go as you will probably get burnt out. I started by finishing a belt my friend had made out of steel. I also consider that too hard of a metal for myself as I have small hands & don't want to get carpel tunnel or arthritis. I use aluminum, copper, silver &brass. Hope that helped a bit. Go for it!

It looks as though you are holding the ring against the ceramic with your fingers as well as the grounded pliers at 2:23. And you are definitely holding/steadying the grounded pliers in other welds. I thought you'd get a shock as you are now part of the circuit... How is that, or do you just make sure you yourself are not separately grounded (like via the chair to the ground)?

I've been looking at this tool, but I had a couple questions. You say that it welds "silver" up to 20 and sometimes 18g with a single pulse, 18g sometimes takes 2, and 16 takes as many as four. I'm assuming that the silver that you are talking about is sterling, I was wondering is it similar for Argentium? I saw that steel has a very distinct and clear discoloration at the welds, does this also happen with Argentium, or is it something that will be seamless after I heat-treat and tumble-burnish the finished piece? Also, when you are talking about the wire gauge, are you talking about AWG or SWG? My silver, gold and copper are all swg. Most of my current work is made from 16swg and 18swg. I'm looking to expand and improve the craftsmanship on my Argentium pieces, to make them a more premium high-end line. While I am planning on doing finer pieces at finer gauges, I also like having pieces in the heavier 16 and 18swg, particular for my men's pieces. This seems to be right on the cusp of being an effective tool for my needs, but I'm not entirely sure.
@TheRingLordcom7 жыл бұрын
Argentium sterling welds about the same as any other sterling. Fine silver welds slightly better then any sterling. also note that fine silver costs about the same and is about the same tarnish resistance as argentium but I digress :). On any silver 95% of the discoloration wipes off easily - the rest can be removed by tumbling or chemicals and is much easier to clean up then discoloration from soldering

Curious, It looks like you have contact with your fingers when you discharge the pulse to make the weld, do you suffer a shock or is it better to avoid contact with your fingers when you trigger the charge?

Hi, I just receive this model in 80A I ordered. 1) Could you explain me how you choose the setting. Coarse and micro tune are available, but potentiometers have a vernier, that says that we should not need a micro tune. What is the real function of te micro tune? If I understand you in the video, you turn them at the same time, but without clear explanation. The coarse is probably for the currant, but the fine tune? is it not for the time of the spark when you press on the pedal? You have a 30A welding tool. On the 80 A there is an other switch Min - Max. Do you know what is the function? 2) If we look at the Titan electrodes in a catalog, there are a lot of various titan blending WT20, WC20, WL20, WL15, WZ8, WY20, WP. Which one is the best to weld silver jewelry? 3) Do you have a table with the start setting recommandation for the different materials? Thank a lot

Snap Ring Pliers are the tool you've halfway made, there, and I'd wager they're probably more safe from losing what you're working on, though less versatile than your option as they're not also cutting pliers.

James W Sterling Silver welds will be brittle and not very deep. It is fine for tack welding pieces in position for soldering/brazing. Tack welding Copper for soldering/brazing works ok, but not as well as Silver. Sterling Silver will tend to jump away from the arc while Copper tends to jump toward the electrode and is more prone to sticking. Bronze, Gold and Steel weld best, but I still wouldn't trust the join. Overall this welder works fine for closing jump rings in Sterling, Bronze, Gold and Steel....and for tack welding pieces before soldering/brazing. Brass doesn't weld very good at all due to the zinc and it's low melting point. If you want nice permanent welds... you will need a more powerful Pulse Arc Welder like an Orion or PUK with Argon shielding gas.
@dadrules7148 жыл бұрын
+James W Your better off soldering ring shanks. This would be great for spot welding around set gemstones repairing settings/ replacing prongs and around fine detail works where flame heat can not be used etc. I just wanted to see how these cheapy welders worked if anyone liked them.( I'm just starting out too). Yes you will need the rods and nickel strips for it then find your setting so it will fuse it

@@Robert127 I am in Japan and labour costs are quite high, but thank you I may try that. One day I would like my own welder.

HI I am wondering were you found the cone for the stand welder ? I just received my 2 in 1 PULSE SPARKLE SPOT WELDER and no parts list or instruction no video CD and what eye wear do you use? upside I do know how to weld just with much larger welders. Your video is very helpful do you have more videos ? CAN YOU HELP ME ?

Look up ceramic abrasive nozzles for sand/abrasive blasting. Harbor Freight sells them cheap. You should be using some welding glasses or a helmet. Auto-darkening works.

Were you going to answer, Cheryl? This is a global conversation, and you can ignore anything you don’t need to help with.
