It's not a lack of moral compass to be able to distinguish appropriate platform, an award ceremony dedicated to the celebration of the art of film (or any other award ceremony for that matter) is NEVER the appropriate setting. You have a platform, yes; but that doesn't mean it's a platform to make a political statement or condemnation. Regardless of how relevant it is to the reason you won the award, per Glaser's situation. You can absolutely have that platform IF you actually wanted it (ie: news interviews, political interviews, etc.) But an award ceremony, is not that platform.

Glazer was clearly concerned (judging by his nervousness) about making a stand - he clearly knew what he was risking, but it is obvious that his conscience wouldn't have it any other way. That's one take. While I agree he was brave to tell the truth, I think his hands shaking had more to do with being uncomfortable speaking in front of a such a large crowd and on live tv. Lots of cheers & applause from the audience that includes many many big names. Yet how many of these people so far have been vocal about the onslaught of Gaza? Very, very few it seems. Generally there has been an eerie silence out of Hollywood. Brave enough to clap their hands in a large auditorium but not brave enough to stand up proudly & be counted. Says it all really!
