A student who was kicked in the head and knocked unconscious during the protests at UCLA is opening about her experience. Kathy Vara reports for the NBC4 News on May 1, 2024.

She was part of a mob of anti-Palestinian counter-protesters who were attacking the encampment and going berserk. She was caught in the middle of the caos when going on the frontline and hit her head as she fell to the ground. I am certain she was not kicked voluntarily, if at all, and it could have come from anywhere.

Considering that everyone is holding a camera up these days, it's weird that while I can find plenty of footage of counter protesters attacking the encampments, I can't find any footage of violence being initiated the other way around. Not a single video.

Hey, I just wanted to clear something up. When we were discussing the ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel, I mentioned that everyone deserves to be respected and treated fairly, regardless of their beliefs. But I also wanted to make it clear that I don't condone hurting individuals. War affects both sides, and innocent citizens are often caught in the crossfire, which is completely unacceptable. I know America may not be directly involved in the war, but the recent tension between Americans and protesters claiming to be part of Hamas is concerning and needs to stop and the violence that they have initiated during protest against Jews and Americans who don't agree with their opinions therefore the situation will keep escalating until things are stopped. I understand that Israel had to take action to defend themselves after being attacked by Hamas, but ultimately, war is not something I believe in. I know it may seem like a necessary solution at times, like when Moses was chosen to free the Israelites from slavery and God went to war against Pharaoh, but I also know that God gives warnings before taking action. Israel warned the territory of citizens to evacuate before they attacked, but Hamas failed to do the same when they were attacking innocent people and taking hostages. Unfortunately, the consequences of their actions have led to suffering on both sides. But as an American, I am proud of our military and their efforts to protect our country. However, as a child of God and a follower of Jesus Christ, I firmly believe in loving everyone and not resorting to violence out of hate. I may not agree with the violence committed by Hamas, but ultimately, it is God who judges, and only His opinion matters. Thank you for understanding.

I disagree with a lot of public lawsuits that get filed -probably most of them. However, when a person, such as this young woman, is attacked and harmed by a group of rioters that could have, should have been shut down on day 1, not day 9 or 10. A riotous group allowed by the negligence of the University administration; I would hope that the young woman and her family initiat a suit against UCLA, against the President of the UC system, and any and all other administrators that had a hand in this neglect. It is well past time to send a message to the 3,300+ administrators of the UC system that they are failing; they are failing the people of Californai, they are failing the students. I'm a veteran. I'm not Jewish, but my aunt married a guy who is. My uncle is a great guy, and they raised their kid Jewish_ish_ (super reformed, super liberal). The kid is a senior in high school and starting college in the Fall. Not LA, but a different UC... My aunt, who is probably the most lefty-liberal person I've ever known, practically BEGGED me to teach my cousin how to shoot a rifle and pistol this summer, since I'm a veteran and the only gun owner in the family. I will be honored to do it.

You kind of glossed over the fact that the pro-Israeli protesters brutally attacked the pro-Palestinian side for hours last night in their attempt to tear down the encampment. They deliberately went their to commit acts of violence. Many had chemical sprays, and they used wooden and metal poles to beat the protestors. Deliberately trying to cause exesive harm. They would drag members from the encampment into the crowd whenever they could s they could brutally beat them as a group. It was absolutely disgusting, and unacceptable. I'm amazed you just glossed over that like it was nothing. I'm sorry that she got hurt. It shouldn't have happened. Still though, talk about shaping the narrative. I find it quite appaling that the news seems to ignore absolutely every crime the Israel commits. In this case, pro-Isreali counter protestors. It is kind of disgusting. Is this really news if all you're doing is attempting to manipulate us in a way that builds support for Israel? Another nation at that. Who exactly is it that you serve? Is it the American people or the state of Israel? Do you think that Israel's historic oppression and theft of Palestinian lands somehow benefits the people of America? What exactly is it that you're doing with this report? At the very least if you want to talk about violence, you probably shouldn't treat you viewers like they're morons. How you choose just now to share some information, escalate it and completely ignore others, tells a lot about were your alligences lie. If antisemtism is unacceptable at these protests? How is it that you reported on a single instance of violence from one side ingoring a many hour long brutal attack by the other?
