I saw The Cure last summer in Seattle, WA. It was an enjoyable concert! It was nice to see this interview!

So glad this popped up. It was nice to see an interviewer gush fandom then get down to business with obvious joy. Someone said she kept interrupting... I feel she got a good meter for their way of responding and, combining that with time constraints, she kept great momentum and covered a lot of ground. Very admirable. Anyone who's been a Cure member has my interest... except Jason Cooper... he hasn't hit my warm-fuzzies yet haha. I'm still not over Boris.

I read somewhere that michael dempsey wasn't thrilled with the seventeen seconds demo. Now here he's saying that it's his favorite cure album that he didn't participate in.

@@sifugurusensei Oh please, have you read the Robert Smith approved '10 imaginary years' book from 1987? Dempsey was sacked. if you read British music press articles from late 1979 Michael is repeatedly quoted as saying he was fired from The Cure and it's obviously what happened. Even then, Robert Smith already WAS The Cure. He had never been close to non-drinking Dempsey and wanted his good mate Simon to take on bass duties -only Bob didn't want to come across as the bad guy, so he basically made up this story of 'creative differences' over the 17 seconds demo. Now, don't get me wrong, Simon is great and shall remain as the classic Cure bass player. But Smith didn't behave very well at the end of 1979 and Dempsey didn't talk to him for 6 years after that, even when he was with the Associates and Smith was hanging out with Billy Mackenzie and Alan Rankine. By the way, Smith wasn't very nice around 1983-84 either, treating Phil Thornalley as some kind of 'rebound main man' and then discarding him when it was time for Gallup to come back to the fold.

@@WS-fw9jgI read as it was being mutual, Dempsey wasn’t like Lol and Robert, he didn’t like the touring/party life style when he was in the Cure, he couldn’t keep up with it and he wanted out, so he wasn’t to upset. He ended up playing on another band. I read somewhere Hartley and Dempsey visited the cure in the studio during the making of Pornography so there was never any hard feelings. The only thing between Robert and Dempsey is they were never close friends.

She said that Michael Dempsey left the Cure in 1986. Wrong. She should do more research before interviewing these guys.
