Just saw it last night and from the very opening, it blew me away. The music, cinematography, acting, the blend of seriousness and humor. I never saw a trailer for this film except when I went to watch Godzilla: Minus One. I hope people weren't thinking that this is just a black film, this goes way beyond that and went above my expectations!!!

Thank you for having the courage to portray Jesus and the disciples as Black. Our people are uniting and I know this has to be a win for you in heaven because you are right he is black (Revelation 1:14). Furthermore, there are over 32 films showing Jesus as white never have we seen a Chinese or Arab Jesus if that fact doesn't speak for itself then we are definitely in denial as believers.
@anotherpointofview222

If by "Black" you mean not "White." Then Yes, you're right. But Jesus and his disciples were not actually or factually, "Black." Black is a racialized term "we" who lost knowledge of culture history and identity became. It's our collective condition not a collective color. Those brothers, Yah'shua aka Jesus, and his students, knew who they were, knew their God, and what they believed they were supposed to be about. Take the next step and see the film "Origin." Time to move beyond racialized colorized identity. Time to rise above the staus quo of the existing heirarchy. If "we" don't, "we" will never know what "our" lives can truly be. Whatever and whoever you believe yourself to be, A color is not who we are. "They Dont Know,Who We Be."

@@anotherpointofview222 just stop. Christ was black and so are the Israelites. And so are we today. There’s way too much evidence behind it. Inside and outside of the Bible. @@mr.renaissancemts4083that’s the feeling I thought at first but honestly I’m a bit on the edge on this, I feel like Jeymes makes a good point here that I feel like people in society are naive and often shallow when it comes to things like this, we need more films like this that examine faith and emits relevance in the modern world because it brings up conversations most films in the religious genre mostly base themselves on biblical stories or are a bit superficial to relate to

So, about The Book of Clarence ("BOC")... I'm all for showing Black representation in the biblical era, especially since, as Jeymes pointed out, it's basically nonexistent. Plus, geographically, it's obvious those people weren't all White. However, I think the humor in the movie took away from its message and made it feel less sophisticated. It was giving parody film a little bit. It's funny that Jeymes mentioned Django, because as I was watching BOC, I'm like: "Okay, it's giving Django and I don't know if I'm supposed to laugh, feel inspired, sympathetic..." 😅

Jeymes' brother is the singer Seal. That is how he got connected to influential figures within the music business, and the overall entertainment industry -- and that's okay. Black folks are the only group of people who demonize nepotism. Every other culture and race uses it to get their foot into the door and to build space for themselves and their people. I know that, generally, Black folks don't have access to a lot of resources (via people or assets); but for those who do, lean into that. Remember: It takes a village.
@justchilling704
@justchilling704 6 ай бұрын
Not true nepotism is unethical, and can even cause serious problems. Helping a qualified and skilled individual who happens to be your relative make connections and or hell out with career opportunities isn’t nepotism, nepotism is doing that unfairly. For example hiring a relative who’s less qualified than someone than a stranger who’s applied for a job.
@momi1610
@momi1610 6 ай бұрын
@@justchilling704 Black folks have no choice but to be great, since folks expect so little from us. So, the people who'll get into these spaces will be worthy; but we need the opportunity to get there. Black folks have been trained to believe that nepotism is this major sin, even though every other community practices it. We need to do the same, because no one else is going to sufficiently open doors for us. We need to be beyond this, "There can only be one" mindset. Don't close the door behind you, once you get into a space. You have to kick it open for others to follow. It's up to us to make sure that happens.

It’s funny how ppl don’t believe in Jesus but they make a movie about it. Why there is no Mohammed,Buddha, Mormon, or Hindu god movie. There is power in the name of Jesus. Philippians 2:10-11 There is only one God Jesus Christ. We are not gods we are man.

I'm sure those religions and cultures have their own entertainment that's obviously not something that will be pushed as propaganda in America tho because 'God' is on the freaking money that's how much of a hard-on America has for Jesus lol

@@ricasmalls5798What is with people like you commenting? Do you even know the religion and or beliefs of the majority of founding fathers? Her will give you a hint it’s not Christianity.

fell out of faith a while ago. probably when I was about 10. but yea this movie made me rethink. also ive been trying to learn about NGE for so long but couldn't remember what was called. I heard of it from a man in the loony bin. and I really resonated with those teachings. but I heard one of you say 5% and that was it.. so thank you so much for refreshing my memory.

I can envision LaKeith in so many roles. What else can we see him in? I hope he has another movie with Jeymes! We're waiting for it.

Romans 10:9-10 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Amen.
